Tuesday was the grandson's 10th birthday. 10? How did that happen? We got him a gaming chair that wasn't particularly heavy but was VERY awkward to carry, so I ended up getting a taxi home with it.
Yesterday, daughter had a barbeque as his 'party' complete with borrowed gazebo due to the rain and a piñata. Don't know when piñatas became a 'thing' in this country but they are. My mum and stepdad were there as well as his best mate from school and his crowd. The dog was not quite as wild as I would have expected given the number of people in the house but she knew us all, which probably helped.
Our cat helped us catch a magpie without meaning to. The husband thought it was injured but I think it was just confused and/or too young to fly properly. Anyway, it kept hiding under the lavender where I couldn't get at it but then Boris chased it into another flowerbed where it got stuck between the wall and the fence. I wrapped it in my cardigan and let it out of the back gate where it fluttered off. I'm not a huge fan of magpies, but I hope it's OK.
Mannerley is coming along. Switching two chapters around at this late stage has caused more snags than I expected but I can sort them. I'll finish this beta-reader edit then do a proper edit - maybe two - then a) wait to hear back from Alloy and b) move on to this year's Nano project. I've also discovered the 'snowflake' method, which I want to try for Nano.
And then there's today...
Going to get my hair cut, buy some flip flops, pick up a couple of bits from Lush, possibly get a couple of PS4 games, and then - pause for dramatic effect - finally get my hands on an actual PS4! Then bring it home, set it up, download the demo for FFXV and ignore the rest of the world for the rest of the day.
