New job: is great. I get paid to write the kind of research articles I had to pay massive amounts of tuition fees to do as an undergraduate. But it's the people I work with who are awesome--Sci-fi and zombie-loving, yet willing to climb into a giant turtle shell in the middle of a kids' museum.

Have been back in the States for over a month now. My parents are still being very nice...

Spent two weeks in Florida getting some sun, and on the last full day there, finally got a call from the person I've been in contact with since June giving me a proper job offer. Looks like I'll be starting around the first of November. Working for the Army. ( Read more... )

Had a lovely weekend camping in the Highlands. Paul and I drove up on Saturday, through off-and-on rain and past an upside down car, wandered around the Cairngorms a bit and then found one of the few campsites that still had pitches left. What a weekend. Went to see UFC 70 with Paul in Manchester. A big surprise ending there, when the guy (CroCop) renowned for knocking people out with kicks to the head was knocked out by his own technique.
