What Does He Want?
► After not working properly for 2 or 3 days, the kitchen lights are perfectly fine today. I really do wonder if the cold and humidity from the rain was affecting the contacts since today was clear.
I'm learning a few things since I decided to start documenting when Stormy has his "pudding poop". So far I've learned that both instances in the past week and a half occurred the day after he had a can of seafood cat food. This is further solidifying my idea to switch to just getting him the various chicken canned dinners. Those would be fine except for how over the past two weeks Stormy barely touches the meals with chunks of diced chicken, and seemingly only really eats the meals that are pureed. I find that really surprising. This means I may have to switch to buying individual cans in the future and not simply buy the boxes of a dozen cans. That's going to be annoying when the individual cans are rarely in stock.
Annoying seems to be the word of the day, actually, since Stormy is in one of his moods where he's craving my constant attention yet running and hiding the moment I approach him. He continues to seem unsure whether he wants me near him or not. It's really frustrating, especially when he's mewing incessantly for me.
But then that's what cats do, right? sigh

Derek: I was reading some things last week and I didn't realize just how severe the Superman/Batman flip was
Derek: after the brief late 60s Batman craze the Bat books really started losing readers in the 70s, so much so that DC actually canceled Detective Comics, but then gave it a reprieve by merging it with Batman Family
Derek: and in the 80s the Batman comics were doing even worse
Derek: sure you had Year One and The Dark Knight Returns, but they didn't make much of an impact on sales and DKR was only sold through direct market in an era when most people still didn't know comic shops existed
Derek: the Burton Batman movie in 1989 really did change everything
Matt: Burton basically took DKR and showed it to the Masses
Derek: yeah
Derek: hell, I was collecting comics from around 87 to 89 and didn't hear of DKR until after the Burton movie
Matt: Nolan did the same thing with the best of the 70s Batman. It's not that Batman was bad in that era, he just hadn't recovered fans that felt slighted by Adam West nor did he appeal to the Adam West fans who wanted to buy comics
Derek: exactly
Matt: They had two markets and they presented the wrong thing to each
Derek: meanwhile Superman was THE guy at DC from 1938 to 1988, his name and face was part of the DC logo for decades
Derek: right
Derek: I want to take exception of 1 thing in that video
Derek: Batman does have a kryptonite, it's a single bullet
Derek: that's all it takes
Derek: and THAT is what makes Batman awesome
► 9gag: China vs Great Britain in the Olympics - I actually watched the Men's 10 metre platform diving finals on TV yesterday and the cultural differences stunned and amazed me. That said, it's all about perspective. China went in heavily favoured and with the expectation of taking both the Gold and Silver, and Silver medalist Qiu Bo was expected to get the Gold, so his Silver medal is seen as abject failure. However, Great Britain hadn't won a medal in the sport in 50 years or so, meaning Tom Daley's Bronze was a triumph.
