Peaks & Valleys

► My god, I was completely burned out this morning. For the past year I have become used to going out just once a week, sometimes less than that. Having to leave the apartment 3 days out of the past 6 I've felt really anxious and drained, and worrying about going out today was wearing on me. As per my usual ritual, I fasted yesterday so I wouldn't have any stomach issues today. A side effect of that is I drank less fluids (water or soda) which wasn't good since the apartment has been incredibly hot this week and I've been sweating like Robert Hayes landing a 747.

So right from the start we have heightened anxiety, frayed nerves, lack of food and probable dehydration. Adding to the stress the cable internet and phone went down for more than 3 and a half hours last night when I was trying to relax, and Stormy redoubled his efforts to destroy my bulletin board, while I was sitting beside it. Oh, and I didn't have any privacy as I had to keep my door open and Dean decided to spend the night watching DVDs and kept walking in the room, ruining any chance for my having private porn time.

Eventually, too frazzled and increasingly frustrated I went to bed, only to toss and turn for an hour or more before falling asleep around 4:00am. My wake up call arrived at 6:00am, courtesy of a certain black cat walking across my desk and further shredding my bulletin board. My mood worsened. Stormy was hyper so I swallowed my temper and played with him for a bit, chatted with Dean (who was still up watching DVDs), and waited until Stormy was calm so I could go take a nap after 9:00am. Luckily I did manage to get some more sleep... until Stormy woke me up at 11:30am, yet again shredding my bulletin board, this time tearing a 2 inch rip in the top of my prized vintage 1979 Michelle Drake Playboy centerfold. Defeated, I took it down and resigned myself to a ruined day.

However...

► It's funny how quickly your mood can change. I was checking the boxes I wanted to bring to the charity depot when someone buzzed the apartment. It was the mailman with 2 Ebay packages for me. One was my Superman pocket watch I bought from a seller in Hong Kong, less than two weeks ago. I was certain it would take at least 4 weeks before it arrived. For an $8 watch (with free shipping), it looks fantastic! I showed the watch off to my grandmother later in the afternoon and she was convinced it was much more expensive since it looks silver. Nope, it's a just a really neat looking cheapo watch with no company name printed on the clock face.

The other package was my long awaited Superman/Savage Dragon: Chicago prestige format comic book which I've been fretting and worrying about for weeks. I purchased it on June 4th, and the seller listed it as shipped on June 6th. After more than 4 weeks I had presumed it was lost, and was going to finally message the seller today. No need to now as I finally have it, and it's in fantastic condition for a 10 year old book. I did, however, check the dates on the postal stamps and invoice and it was actually only just shipped last week on June 28th, so I guess the seller lied about that. I'm fine with it since I now have it and still gave the guy positive feedback (though I did mention that it shipped 3 weeks late).

With that my mood improved drastically (although I was still exhausted and sluggish), and when Dad called shortly after I didn't cancel our plans and he picked me up at 1:00pm. We dropped all of the boxes off at the charity center, then went to the bank, further visited my grandmother for a couple of hours, and then hit Walmart where I got such goodies as a box of freezies and a 12 pack of cream soda. It's my first time trying cream soda and this brand is Walmart's "Great Value" brand. It tastes like the 7 minute frosting my other grandmother used to make for her angel food cake, which is fine for a piece of cake but kinda nauseating for a beverage. Next time I'm out I'll see if I can get a bottle of Crush's cream soda to test that instead.

Cinema Blend: Andre 3000's Jimi Hendrix Biopic Will Feature No Hendrix Music - Apparently Jimi Hendrix's estate refuses to licence the songs since they don't have "full participation" in the movie....unbelievably, producer Sean McKittrick insists the filmmakers never intended to use Hendrix's songs, as the film is set in the era before he blew up.
Riiight. I believe that. Uh huh.
