► This has been a surprisingly busy week for me, and as such I've let several days slip by without updating. The gist of the week is that Dad and Clare finally moved into their new condo last week after 3 years of construction (there are still unfinished details in their unit). Dad had me go over on Sunday because of problems with his television hook up (turned out the guys who mounted the flatscreen TV to the wall in his den didn't bother attaching the power cable first, so he had to take it down). I also helped out with a few other things and stayed for supper (A&W!) and then watched the Canada Day fireworks (for the first time since I was 10) from the condominium roof (there's a deck on the roof, I was able to swallow my fear of heights for the night).
Yesterday I had to go back to the condo because of a couple of new problems with both TV set ups, as the flatscreen TV in the living room had been inexplicably switched to read a PC hook up that wasn't there, and while Dad's TV in the den was able to access the cable box, he wasn't getting a signal from his VCR/DVD combo player (I had to redirect the cable box through the VCR/DVD player instead of vice versa). I then helped Dad sort through all of his DVDs and VHS tapes and arrange everything onto the built in bookcases that had been put up just earlier that morning. That took several hours and we didn't finish until 9:00pm. Dad drove me home shortly after but not before paying for subs at Subway (I got a steak sub!). That was good.
Given that I went out last Friday and have to go out again tomorrow, this has been my busiest week in a very long time. I've been feeling really worn out just because I'm not used to it. Although I have to admit it's probably doing me a lot of good.
► In further news this week:► I finally sorted through the big plastic bin and two huge boxes of action figures and toys in the back hallway, putting all the ones I want to keep in the bin and filling 4 other boxes of toys (a very sweaty and tiring job in the heat and closed off hallway). Dad and I will be taking those boxes to a local charity depot tomorrow, along with a few other things. Hopefully I'm well on the way to clearing up some of my junk, although I still have boxes of stuff to go through in my closet.
► On Sunday Dad told me that he wants to buy my 3 year old bike from me since he wants a new one (presumably because the condo is next to the river bike path) and I've only used the bike once since I got it (it's an enormously heavy and awkward pain to carry up and down the stairs with each use. Dad's giving me the money tomorrow and I'm going to use it to pay off a huge chunk of my credit card. It's really going to help, especially since I splurged buying a bunch of this online this past weekend. I think I just lost myself for a bit and haven't really been thinking.
► Over the past couple of days, my cat Stormy has suddenly become obsessed with clawing my big $50 bulletin board above my desk in my room. Yesterday he put a 2 inch tear in the side of
my vintage 1979 girlie poster I bought online in early 2011, and this morning he put a 3 inch tear down the right side. Finally giving in, I took the poster down only for him to jump up on the desk and shred the cork where the poster was 3 times while I was standing a few feet away. He's since scratched it further, including my finishing an arc of small holes after I got back from the bathroom in the middle of the afternoon. It's just bizarre how he's suddenly obsessed with this...Matt: He's a cat. Give him a few days and he'll forget it
► I had a surprise this morning while eating a cookie during a movie when I suddenly bit down on something rock hard. Yes, it was a surprise, but I knew exactly what it was: the final piece of my upper right broken molar come loose. All of the tooth that was above the gums is now gone. I guess the dentist will have to dig to remove the rest of the tooth and roots when I eventually muster up the courage to go. If I ever muster up the courage to go.
Interestingly it doesn't really hurt, so I guess the tooth is very obviously dead.
