It's Probably Because She Has Super Hair

► While I only managed to get 2 hours of sleep, I made it through my shopping excursion with Dad today. As usually the massive anxiety and nausea built up over the two weeks since I last left the apartment fizzled once I was actually away. We actually ended up going more places than expected, first to the grocery store, Walmart, my grandmother's, and finally the downtown mall.

The best moment, or at least the most amusing moment for me, occurred at Walmart while we walked past the beauty/make up department on the way to the Christmas ornaments (Dean had asked my father to pick up a small fibre optic Christmas tree for her). We were walking fairly briskly but I had just enough time for my eye to catch a Justin Beiber display that had nail polish smeared all over his face and the word "LOSER" painted across his chest. Mean, yes, but it did amuse me.

I picked up a couple of DVDs at Walmart. The first is 17 Again which I got out of the $5 bin. A couple of weeks ago I caught the movie on late night television and actually enjoyed it. It's very predictable and formulaic, but has a good cast and I was stunned at how layered and genuinely funny and affecting Zac Efron was in it. I think I really like Zac Efron now.

The other DVD I picked up was the Disney computer animated film, Tangled. There was a bit of confusion over price. Dad and I were looking at some of the sale displays when I saw the DVD. The film had been recommended to me by a girl friend of mine who suggested I'd really like it (and she's probably right). The price tag had been scratched off, so I went up to two of the electronic department employees who were standing and chatting and asked what the price was. One guessed "$14.98" while the other scanned the DVD. When it rang up as $28.98 both were shocked. I took the DVD back to the display and mentioned it to Dad. After a moment I told him I wanted to check the DVD aisles inside the electronic section. There I found another copy of the DVD, the tag for the slot saying $28.98, but the sticker on the DVD said $20.00. That's actually fairly low for a Disney DVD around here, so I took it. As expected the DVD rang up as $28.98 at the checkout, but I ultimately did get it for $20 (the policy is you get the items at the sticker price).

Photos of Tim Burton's Thanksgiving Day Parade Balloon - A stitched up lonely misunderstood boy who's segregated from the close-minded creative people who live around him and aren't able to understand his singular vision. Burton isn't even trying anymore, is he? I wish he'd finally get over his dull suburban upbringing and daddy issues.

Teen stabbed in Satanic sex ritual - Oh media, you so crazy! Dig that lingering close up of the Necronomicon in the video.

9gag: Shower [fixed] - The expectations and reality of the differences between men and women in the shower.

Art or Porn: Bush love. Submitted by Model Odette... - I don't know if it's art, but I like it!

Harry Partridge: Bo-Starr and the Champions of Galastrom (lost scene) - I hadn't seen this before, but man is it fantastic.

Quote of the Moment

[At the foot of the Statue of Liberty]
Peter Venkman: Kinda makes you wonder, doesn't it?
Winstonn Zeddemore: Wonder what?
Peter Venkman: Whether she's naked under that toga. She is French. You know that.
