I'm Going To See A New Doctor! ...In A Month

Nov 01, 2011 18:10

► This afternoon I got a surprising phone call. Instead of hearing back from the social worker, I got a call from a doctor (I assume he's a psychologist, but he didn't actually say). Apparently the weekly mental health department meeting had just ended and he was the doctor assigned my case, so he called to set up an appointment early next month (which suits me fine, since I'll just end up dreading going as the date nears).

It seems he thought I just needed a doctor to fill out my pension forms right now. I explained that my routine 5 year disability pension review isn't actually until next year, and that I don't know when I'll be getting the forms except that it could be as early as late spring, and that my pension caseworker told me that the backlog is so great that it could be anywhere from a few months to a year or more beyond next spring before my review comes up.

I explained that I was doing this as a preemptive measure to get back into regularly or semi regularly seeing a psychologist to be prepared for when I eventually get the forms, but also that I thought I'd benefit from getting back into some therapy. While I don't think I'll ever "get over" my agoraphobia (20 years of history lead me to believe that's a fantasy), I think it'd be good for me to receive some semi regular therapy. We'll figure out how this will be handled when I go for my appointment.

► The biggest surprise of the phone conversation with the doctor, was when he told me his name (last name only). I'm not going to repeat his name here, but I was momentarily thrown when he mentioned his name because it's totally a super-villain name (Doctor S___r), which I find awesome.

Bill Paxton In Talks To Direct ‘Kung Fu’ - I actually really like this news. The 1970s Kung Fu was a great and really original take on the classic western series, being about a Chinese monk traveling through the old west (even if he was played by a white man). Bill Paxton did a fantastic job directing the horribly underrated American Gothic horror thriller Frailty, so I'd trust him with the film.

Scarlett Johansson Explains Nude Photo Scandal: "It's Not Like I Was Shooting a Porno" - The pics were 3 years old? That explains why she still has large boobs in them (being pre-Iron Man 2 and her curve shrinking fitness regime for the film). Still wish we had gotten more than just 2 pics leaked before the Feds found the hacker. Ah well.

I need to get over the Scarlett Johansson boob shrinkage thing...

At-Attack Lamp: Superheros Ride An AT-AT Into Battle - Because why not? Additionally, King Theoden of Rohan is now a superhero. Just so you know.

The Lists: In Contention's Top 10 Scary PG-Rated Films - Another reason for me to believe that the introduction of the PG-13 movie rating lead to the modern "bland-izing" of movies.

Top 15 Underrated Horror Flicks - I saw Let’s Scare Jessica to Death a few times on late night television in the early 90s, and it always confused the hell out of me. Each time the movie ended I didn't understand what I had just watched.

I Wouldn't Mind The Probing: The 20 Sexiest Aliens Of Film And Television - Regarding the comment below calling the Christopher Reeve Superman pic "DOUCHETASTIC", that fellow needs a punch to the gonads. Fuck you, buddy.

Martin: I hope you die!
Ethan: That'll be the day.
