Happy Halloween!

► Happy Halloween everyone!

► The social worker I talked to last week called me back today. Seems she got my case file and had read through it. It turns out that the outpatient mental health program I've been sent to actually specifically deals with therapy for people with immediate mental distress, and in more of a triage style of severity of need. My agoraphobia being chronic and by my own estimation beyond curing means that the program there isn't right for me.

She told me about another Canadian mental health program that does deal with therapy for people who have chronic mental illness. She's uncertain, however, whether or not they help with mental health disability forms. Since they do specifically deal with people with long term issues, I imagine they must, but it's a question mark.

There's supposed to be a weekly meeting tomorrow and she said that she'll be bringing up my case and will get back to me afterward. Hopefully everything will be fine. I'm still really anxious, but not as bad as I was.

25 Awesome Horror Films You Probably Haven’t Seen (But Really Should) - I only own 4 of the films on DVD (Son of Dracula, Vampyres, Cemetery Man, and the 1931 Spanish language Dracula). Of the others I've been wanting to get The Omega Man, Lifeforce, and Phantom of the Paradise on DVD for years. I haven't seen any of the others, but have wanted to see Martin and Dead & Buried (the last of which has been in my Amazon cart for a couple of months).Matt: Wired had 25 Awesome Horror movies you've never seen
Derek: got the URL?
Matt: Oddly Son of Dracula and Spanish Dracula were on there
Matt: and I'm like, "If you have the Dracula Legacy DVD, you've probably seen them"
Derek: found it
Derek: via Google
Matt: Your Phantom Paradise thingy is on there
Derek: I really want to get that on DVD
Derek: it's a rock opera update of The Phantom of the Opera crossed with Faust
Matt: I actually don't think Son of Dracula is that good
Derek: Son of Dracula gets a lot of praise for it's atmosphere and mood, but to me it's the first Universal Horror film that really looked like it was cheap sets
Derek: I think Daughter of Dracula is moodier and more creepy
Matt: yes
25 Best Horror Films of All Time (NSFW) - I just can't imagine a list of the greatest horror movies not having Bride of Frankenstein. It's the high water mark of the entire Universal Monsters run.

Top 10 Hammer Horror Films! - Actually, I think Countess Dracula is a bit stuffy and slow. I'd replace it with the incredible Captain Kronos - Vampire Hunter. It's an inventive and exciting blend of Gothic vampire tale and swashbuckling adventure.

Tim Curry: Anything Can Happen On Halloween (The Worst Witch) - I actually miss the 1980s. Tim Curry is awesome.

Quote of the Moment

Laurie: We're getting nowhere. Look, the boogeyman can only come out on Halloween right? Well I'm here, I'm not about to let anything happen to you.
Tommy Doyle: Promise?
Laurie: Promise.
