► As my doctor appointment tomorrow nears, I'm finding myself calming down a bit. I ate a bit last night so that's probably helping too.

Still, I was incredibly anxious and fearful going out with Dad today. I'm just in a heightened state of anxiety right now. But I made it through without any panic attacks so that's good. We went to the comic book shop, the downtown mall, and then the grocery store. I bought a cherry pie, my first in a few weeks, but I'm not going to have any tonight. Instead I'll save it for my reward for making it through my appointment tomorrow.Derek: oh god, I'm getting stoned...
Derek: bought 2 books at the comic shop
Derek: Captain America: Road to Reborn as planned, and on discount and for a whim I bought Shadowhawk Chronicles for $10, big Essential/Showcase style collection
Matt: Shadowhawk? Really?
Derek: took the Shadowhawk book out of the plastic bag when I got in, sitting across the room from me and all I can smell is the fucking printing ink fumes
Derek: was $10, figured what the fuck
Matt: Hahaha, that's the smell of the 90s
Derek: it's making me ill X-P
Matt: I bet
The book is Shadowhawk Chronicles Vol 1 and reprints almost 500 pages worth of comics in black and white (ala Marvel Comics' Essential and DC Comics' Showcase Presents lines). The odd thing about it is that it's obvious that they didn't reprint the original artwork, but instead just scanned and desaturated actual comic book pages. Most of the pages have that odd kaleidoscope blur effect you get when you scan printed materials. It's just odd.

I'm almost caught up on the entire Ed Brubaker run of Captain America in tradepaperback form now (still need to get Captain America: Reborn, but the shop doesn't have it). Maybe I should try getting some older Cap collections starring Steve Rogers.

'Smallville' Exclusive: Aquaman gets hitched! - They're introducing Mera to the show, played by an actress named Elena Satine. I love Mera, and Miss Satine is beautiful.

Fox Offers Wolverine 2 to Darren Aronofsky - But what's this about the Superman movie?'Until last weekend, though, Aronofsky was far more interested in directing WB's original take on Superman - in which Clark Kent is a journalist traveling the world trying to decide if he should, in fact, even become Superman - than doing a sequel like Wolverine 2. But on Saturday, Aronofsky was informed by WB he was out of the running for Man of Steel, and suddenly directing a sequel didn't seem so bad. Today, his reps began negotiations with Fox to put him behind the camera for Wolverine 2.'
They've promised us an established Superman movie and not another damn origin film! Shenanigans!

OFFICIAL: Emma Stone is Gwen Stacy - Expected yet surprising. For the past couple of weeks, up to just yesterday, there were headlines saying Marvel was close to announcing Emma Stone had been cast. As Mary Jane. I was not expecting Gwen Stacy at all. Friend of mine was shocked to learn that Stone actually is a blonde (ala Gwen). I pointed out that half the time her "red hair" is actually dyed burgundy. Why do women dye their hair that colour? I find it just looks odd.

Christina Hendricks In 'Harper's Bazaar': Women, Gay Men Hit On Me - Can't say that I blame them. It's been a month, here are some Christina pics:
