It's All About Gas

Jun 14, 2010 13:07

► A day later and I'm still feeling anxious and shaky from my panicky bike ride yesterday. It's stupid that I still haven't "come down" from the attack. I need to regrow my stones.

► We got a letter from the gas company this past Thursday saying they need to replace our meter in the next 10 days. They'll have to cut off our water heater and fireplace to do that, and then relight them afterward. I called the company this morning and they'll be coming by tomorrow to do it between 12:00pm and 4:00pm. Guess that means I won't be going out with Dad for our weekly Tuesday excursion.

Worrying about the gas company guy coming, and our water heater and fireplace pilot lights will be keeping my nerves busy. No time to relax yet, I suppose. I'll try calling Dad later and see if he'll want to come over and wait with me so we can go to the mall later, if there's time.

► Totally how Dejah Thoris should look in a John Carter of Mars/A Princess of Mars movie. You know, minus the red skin.

World Premier of the DC Universe Online Official E3 Trailer - Yeah, I think I'm going to have to get this game.

Sam Raimi Offered Oz, the Great and Powerful - The premise does sound interesting. Funny that there are several competing Oz movies in the works, yet there has never been a live action film that has fully adapted the original book (the 1939 MGM musical omitted and altered most of the story).

Robert Rodriguez Offered Director’s Chair for Deadpool - That's well and good and all, but my interest in the Deadpool movie depends on how much they distance themselves from the bastardization X-Men Origins: Wolverine did with the character. The Wolverine movie Deadpool was an incredible mess with little to no connection to the comic book character. It was almost as much of a departure from the source character as Halle Berry's Crow/Buffy the Vampire Slayer mashed-up fashion business Catwoman movie was to the powerless cat-burglar Catwoman of the comics.

To be more succinct, they were the characters in name only.

The 5 Greatest Books With Psychotic Fan Bases - I'm not sure "Psychotic" is the right word when they mean fringe groups/people who twist the original intent of the books. From the article, a quote from Dr. Seuss:"Horton is not a book about abortions. These notions are distortions; they're heaping portions of deciduous contortions piled high with a side of whamdiddly dodortions."
And that, dear friends, is why Dr. Seuss was and is awesome.

► I laughed until I snotted.
