"Wedding showers," Don said as he and Robin unfolded the folding chairs in their quadrant of the carefully-manicured lawn, "rehearsal dinners... was it Amita or Chuck who roped you into helping with all that?" Knowing full well that whatever you do, I'll do.
"I don't mind," Robin said. "Really."
"You're sure?" Don asked.
"I am. Besides, it's good practice."
"Practice, eh?"
"Don't give me that 'practice, eh', Don Eppes - you know very well what I mean," though she was more amused than shocked at his tone.
Don shrugged, and was about to say something, then clearly thought the better of it.
"What?" Robin asked.
"Ah..." Don said. "Nah, it's nothing."
"Nothing?"
"Just an old saying. Nothing authoritive."
Robin took a seat on one of the folding chairs. "Let's hear it."
"Okay," Don said. "'On her wedding day, every bride is the most beautiful one.' Or something like that." Taking a step closer, Don placed his hands along Robin's jaw, and spoke softly and clearly into her bangs: "But for you, they'll make an exception."
"Oh they will, will they?"
"Yeah, 'cause you'll outshine all the others."
Robin smiled. "Have I told you lately how much I love you?"
Don pretended to think that over. "Not in the last five minutes."
