Salvation is a last-minute business, boy.

I just watched The Night of the Hunter for the first time, and mostly really liked it. I knew Undertow took a lot from it, but, wow, it's just short of a genuine remake. Although I should mention that Undertow is funnier. The middle 30 minutes of Hunter are the best, and scariest. I read on the IMDB that the director didn't direct the children much, because he didn't really like children. This explains the somewhat lackluster child performances (one area where Undertow has it all over Hunter). This does not explain why he directed a movie *starring* children.

Anyway, I'm glad I saw it. But t it made me wonder: In the movies, does anyone ever marry Shelly Winters out of love?? I mean, she's not *that* unattractive.
