Sometimes a week can have far to much going on in it to label it either good or bad. Regardless, "to much going on" is generally harmful to accomplishing goals. This week would be no exception to that rule.
1. Paying off College = I racked in a total of 1 hour of overtime last week, thus being a good 7 hours short of my original weekly goal. Fortunately/unfortunately, this week looks like it will compensate for those missed hours...
2. Bible Reading = Big time failing here. I'm sure to be caught back up this weekend (as I'll be on a plane for about 18 hours with nothing else to do), but I really need to engrain the mentality of reading every day. Why this is so difficult eludes me, other than the fact that I don't read very often already.
3. Good Works in God's Name = I actually accomplished a little in this area this week, but nothing I can really post. You'll just have to trust me on this one. Sadly, with the ultra-busy schedule I've had this past week, I wasn't able to sit down and deeply think through random acts of kindness to list in this weeks journal. The lack of sleep has played a larger than life roll in the entire layout "Week 4" that I really must reconsider what I'm capable of handling and what I am not. Knowing one's own limitations makes for better preparation in how to surpass those limitations.
4. Achieve 2nd Degree Brown Belt Status in Sanchin-Ryu = This has at least been a better than normal affair for me. I was able to attend two classes this week, and I feel my forms and understanding are getting better. I still need to put in added effort at home in order to ensure that what I'm learning "sticks". Still, it's been a very good start to the martial arts year.
5. Run a Full Marathon = Still need to run in order to make this happen, and in these weather conditions of 15 degrees, it's just not a pleasant thought. I do dread the treadmill, but it looks as though that will be my only means of achieving any success until I either suck it up and run outside in the expensive winter running gear I purchased a week or two ago, or it gets warmer. I better start running outside... that gear wasn't cheap. lol.
Other Stuff = I finally broke down and bout a Macbook Pro. I got the most basic model (with a slight ram increase from 2 to 4 gigs). All in all, I'm happy with the purchase and look forward to the versatility the macbook will offer. Now I can actually head out to the cottage this summer without worrying about leaving work behind. :) Wait... should I really be smiling about that...? lol. Either way, with me being able to continue with work while away from home, this was a very understandable purchase that should more than pay for itself within the year. Not to mention, it will prove very valuable during my long flight to Uganda and back. I made sure to purchase an airline adapter just for the trip. ;)
Earlier in the week, I also had my Flip Mino HD arrive! :D I must say, good things DO come in small packages, as this device (that is smaller than my cell phone) provides great recording capabilities with an extremely user friendly control system. The files are easy to import into iMovie and play around with as well. It does come with it's own editing software as well, but iMovie does a bit more, and I'm more comfortable with it. This should help in providing some great footage of me in Uganda as well. Less than a week before I'm off to the land of... umm... whatever Uganda is known for... Maybe I should look that up. ;)
Oh, and a HUGE praise!!! As of Sunday, I received all the funding I had requested for my Uganda trip!!! :D Though I've recently found out that the trip will be a little more expensive than I first thought, it's been such a blessing to be able to raise $2,400 in just over 2 months time. I hope those same people and more still have a big giving heart when I return... I'm going to need about the same amount for me to go to El Salvador in June to dig wells... God is good. I'm sure He'll provide. :) Thanks again for all that have been and continue to pray for me. :D I know that helped in raising the money as well, and in keeping me healthy as I approach the trip. Well... Minus the migraine I had on Saturday night... that... that was a bad night... when a headache makes you hurl, you know it means business... But all better now! :-P
Take Care and God Bless,
Chad
