Tonight's show at Oppa-La was awesome. I used Laurier's telecaster (with distortion). He said John and I sounded tighter than ever. I'm quite happy.

Only problem was, only a small portion of the few people there actually appreciated the music. It was such a small crowd that we actually lost money on the gig. And seriously, most of the people who ( Read more... )

For those of you asking "How did you manage this TV gig?" my answer is this: Laurier Tiernan. A man who loves me and believes in my talent. When a record industry contact asked him if he knew an American singer for the job, he gave her my name and a musician's praise and passed his luck on to me.

So thank you, Laurier. Your hour is coming, too.

Had the Roppongi gig; it went really well. I screwed up a lot on guitar (Tiernan's Taylor) but I really felt like it didn't matter. I felt really open and relaxed and it was good. Things that make me laugh: Little ironies in nature and humankind. Little people with little dogs. Surprise. Facial expressions. The Japanese use of the English language. The things my students learn from me that I may or may not have meant to teach. People telling me I have large breasts (I'm barely a C).
