The better part of Sunday I spent by the pool with a bunch of straight friends. Most of them are straight, many are married, and as I remarked to a gay friend just the weekend before, with these people I know where I stand. Not that I don't with my gay friends, but I wonder how rare it is for a gay guy to have a group of friends with whom you can feel completely comfortable, where your sexuality is never an issue. If every gay man has friends like that, why is it that 337A is still allowed to stand? Anyway, it was a beautiful day, with food and drink and laughter and relaxation. Just a beautiful day. Paul Tan was in town for his mother's 70th birthday, and dropped in at the house and as always, it was great to see him. Too bad it was only a short time and he'll have to work until he goes back to London tomorrow. Well, I can always go to London. :P
The best part of Sunday was Sun-night. Adrian promised a giant surprise but the biggest surprise of all wasn't the "jumpingjumpingthingy" aka Uncle Ringo( although that was pretty damn impressive) but what a terrific time I had at Powerhouse. There was popcorn and cotton candy to give us energy through the night, and it was really a helluva lotta fun. It was great seeing old friends like Shaozie, Mel, etc. and also interesting to make the re-acquaintance of people like Thrueno and Zen. And to top it all off, Emma and Pam came too, and I think they had a good time, esp. Pam( wink, wink!). Went home and couldn't sleep till 5 or 6am.
I haven't been sleeping well for about a week now, and it's taken its toll in the form of sniffles. Well, as someone( quite a few someones) once said, we have all eternity to sleep. Until then, we stay awake to savor all the sweetness and bitterness of life, sometimes all at once.
