Hedonistic Weekend

It was a very long weekend. For some reason, and I know what that reason is, I was determined to party. It started on Friday night with dinner at Mark's where I saw Ken again after such a long time. We never really partied together before but since it was his first night back from Qatar, we all went out to Mox followed by Play followed by Taboo. And that was the pattern that was sort of established for Saturday night too, albeit with a different set of people.

Gosh. I'm trying to remember Saturday. Well, Saturday was the night of my gig at One Degree 15, the new marina club on Sentosa Cove. I met the pianist and the bassist on the night itself, ran through one song during sound check, came up with a tentative playlist, and we were on. Only in jazz can that happen. The trust is implicit, and yet so delicate. We had to warm up to each other, prove one to the other, the eventually embrace and be thankful for all our presence and all our talent and all our experience. Phew! I started out nervous because it's been such a long time since I sang at a gig like this, and it showed, but I think I managed to find some kind of footing, and with the aid of the two musicians, scraped through without major disaster. I really need to do it on a regular basis to get better at it. I'm looking forward now to the Paragon gig next Saturday.

P.S. What a pleasure to see Joanne Lee Lee Lee at One Degree 15. She said she would be there and she did not disappoint. She's quite the socialite, ya know, but she took time out to take pictures with me, gossip a little and even demanded that I dedicate a song to her, which I did lah. I hope it was alright, Jo, but just to test you, what was the song I sang for you again? :P Alas, I turned down her invitation to join her on board the Fashion TV yacht for a party but I think I would really feel out of place there( not like Joanne Lee Lee Lee who's really in her element at these shindigs). Plus I had to meet some gay people in some gay clubs. If only I can remember who...?

Now I remember! It was Koey Foo who texted me and asked if I was going out that night. KOEY FOO! So how could I say no, especially since Galvin was coming too. So we arranged to meet at Play, and when I got there first, crashed AJ's 30th birthday celebration where I met Roy, Jasmine, Sam Yeo( 妹妹!好久不見!)and many others. Koey, Galvin and Nicholas decided the crowd was too much and we went to supper at Maxwell where I tried to drive Koey crazy with my Beijing accent. Koey is hilarious lah. His very outspoken views about who's cute, who's not, who's fuckable, who's not, how to fuck( OMG, the "air-fuck") had us banging the table, but I suspect Galvin and Nicholas were secretly taking notes.

Supper over, appetite sated, we decided to head back to Play where we met Alfian, so it really turned out to be an Asian Boys reunion of sorts. So nice to see him again. He's dying for Ivan to hold the DVD night so we can watch the recording of the play together but I guess we'll have to wait till Ivan comes back from New York, and then wait for him to finish being busy with Beauty World, which means... NEXT YEAR?!

Alan Seah also made a special guest appearance at Play en route home to Spottiswoode. The first thing he said to me was very rude, and I was like, WTF?! But it's ok. I was innocent and I love him for coming by to say hello.

Ok, I'm getting sleepy so I'm rambling already and my English is becoming very bad so the rest of this post will have to wait till after my nap. *yawn*
