How long do you take to "get over" someone? One young friend gives himself three days. Another took about a year. One woman apparently never got over her husband who left her. How does one go about getting over another, or a relationship?
I remember my first getting over. It was a painful process, filled with tears and misery. The morning that I finally woke up and felt that I had gotten over him, he showed up at my door to ask me to go back to him. That was the morning I think all my romantic notions about love died, or began to die, little by little, one by one, until there's really not much left that I believe about love.
It takes me a while still to get over someone, but when it's over, boy! Is it over! I never look back in case I turn into a pillar of salt, or salty tears. I never found again the penchant for pain that I had in my youth.
