Good movie, dumb overexertion...

I didn't do any art today. I did my laundry... this is the first time I've done my own laundry since ... wow, since my second surgery at all. And I was not keeping up very well with it after my first surgery either. Living here, I've had a lot of help with it from kkitten42, so it's not as if I'm slobbing and living in filthy clothes. It's more that today, specifically, I wound up doing it myself instead of just asking for help.

Kitten rented Order of the Phoenix and we watched it this afternoon while the kids were napping. It was great. I loved it. By the time it was over the sun was down and I was too tired to draw. I wanted to accomplish something and didn't feel creative. I probably shouldn't have done it, because I'm paying the toll right now for straining my back.

But I noticed the machines were free.

This is a rare event. We have toddlers. Three going on four and just turned two. Those who are parents or siblings of toddlers know about this. Little tiny kids that are maybe a quarter the size of an adult human being use up more clothing and dirty it faster than about three adults. The sheer volume of the kittenlets' laundry means that normally both machines are going pretty much round the clock, so the odds of going in there and seeing them empty and ready have been pretty low... and I saw it and pounced on the opportunity. Which was my first go at using the new high efficiency laundry machines.

They are very cool. I could not believe how little soap it took to get my clothes clean, but they got clean all right, and all my accumulated laundry went into it -- would've been two loads in the old machines. So I wound up doing the whole thing. Everything I've got is clean. And this time I was the one who did it.

I still haven't taken it out and folded it, but maybe next time I get up for the bathroom I'll just open the dryer and toss it all in the basket, sort and fold while sitting down like a sensible mobility-impaired guy. That's not that difficult if I don't try to do it while standing up in there. Yep. It's a plan.

I did it. Today I did something that has been out of reach way, way too long. It was worth it.
