Happy Birthday, Marilyn Monroe

On this day in 1926, Marilyn Monroe was born Norma Jean Mortensen in Los Angeles. She died before her time, and perhaps due to that, she transcended herself, and became the stuff of posters and retrospectives, references and parodies and pop culture ephemera. And it makes me sad. I'd go more into it, but in a few minutes it won't be her birthday anymore.
