"Hi," Tina said, approaching them. "Some of you don't know me, I think. I'm Tina Chapel, the head nurse here. The captain - Jim - was feeling anxious about coming to sickbay, and I said I'd send someone from his family to the transporter room to get him. I think it had better be you, Mrs. Kirk, since I doubt he'll recognize anyone else."
She turned to the McCoys. "And Leonard volunteered to stay with him so he wouldn't be scared. So if you two want to go retrieve him, that would be excellent."

Pasha curled her index finger in her mouth and bit down lightly, a comfort technique, that place looked safe enough but it wasn’t home and it had the same sterile hospital smell that all medical bays did.

Jules sat on the biobed, as he'd been told. He kicked his feet idly, looking around at the other kids. The ones he'd been talking to had been separated--the boy was talking to some grownups, and the girl with the bouncy hair was with one of the pretty blonde ladies--it might have been Tina. Jules thought hard. Pasha was the girl with the bouncy hair, he remembered, who talked like his maths teacher. He couldn't remember the boy's name.

"I'm Christine," she introduced herself. "What's your name?" She was trying to remember the names that Commander Spock had mentioned in his message, and match the boy up with one of them, but she couldn't quite make the connection.
