Watching robins

May 26, 2013 05:28

I've been watching a family of robins the last couple of days -- the mother (I assume it's the mother -- they seem to be the most invested in getting the fledglings out on their own) hops around, followed by three fledglings, digging around for bugs while they watch. She's still feeding them, but I don't know how long that's going to last. I haven't seen any of the young ones trying to find their own bugs yet, but it's going to happen. It sort of has to, because she's going to take off before too much longer, and they're going to be on their own.

Interesting to watch.

Oh, and the computer finally seems to be clean and functional. I guess I'll try to sync it with the tablet again to see if I can get my bookmarks back, now that it recognizes the tablet.

I'm really sort of fed up with this -- the damned computer's a tool, not a vocation, and I've really got to get writing again.

Update: Out back again, just in time to encounter a raccoon looking for something to munch on. The robin got quite agitated, to judge by the strength and frequency of the calls. The raccoon wandered back out front, after giving me a once-over, and the robin found a worm. No one found a violent and untimely end, except the worm.

There are also lots of little brown birds that are not sparrows out there. I'm going to have to sit out with my bird guide, I think.
