So over the course of the past couple of weeks I've been culling through Fanpop and annoying their administrators by sending them huge lists of my artwork that I'm demanding that they remove from their servers. Yesterday I found 173 items including a bunch of newly re-uploaded stuff that they had just removed!
I provide my artwork to everyone for your personal use ONLY. My journal is open, so you can point people back here if you want to share any of my artwork with others. I spend HOURS working on my pieces and have developed my own unique style that allows my art to stand out. Needless to say when I see others reposting it w/o crediting me - I see this as equating that they're claiming the work as their own. My favorite insult - over on the Clois board on Fanpop someone chopped up one of my S8 Clois wallpapers and used parts of it for the community's forum banner. GRRRR! (Yeah that's a fun one that I got to demand for them to remove.)
I doubt (hope) that any of you have uploaded any of my stuff over there, however, if you have PLEASE STOP.
I've found my artwork appearing in Google ads because people are reposting my stuff elsewhere without my permission. I post stuff here and on my art blog and a couple of other smaller, locked communities and that's it. As it is, I'm now questioning if I want to keep my blog open, if anything I'm guessing that's where the thieves are finding my work.
Frankly, I can care less if you repost any of the images, promo photos, etc that I post (credit is nice, but it's mostly about promotion and I don't own them so I generally don't have hissy fits about that.) However, this is entirely different. If you all happen to see any of my art out on the web and you can tell that it wasn't me posting it, please let me know immediately. Thanks.
