Cycling is a sport most people are aware of but have little interest in. To them a bicycle, not to be confused with that other bike the motorcycle, is merely something that they use to get around town when it's not raining. Most of the time I lean to this scheme of things, apart from not owning a bike I don't do the not raining part. However over the years I have broken this for three week's a year for the event known as the Tour De France. Now for those who don't know the Peleton as it's know is a three week cycle race round France. It covers nearly 3,500km and passes through both the Pyrennes and the Alps. It must be classed as one of the great feats of human endevour, though not without controversey due the incidences of doping over the years.

Now last December I was sitting in a pub near Wembley watching the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards. As you may be aware it was won by Sir Chri Hoy. I was however of the opionion that Mark Cavendish was more deserving as I rated four Tour stage wins as more deserving than three gold medals. It seems a BBC columnist is also following my logic See
