TN Photo Post 3: The Parthenon

Feb 04, 2012 11:10

The Parthenon replica was built in Nashville for the Tennessee Centennial and International Exposition of 1897. The city's nickname was "Athens of the South" so they decided to build a Parthenon with a big-ass Athena housed inside. In the 1920s it was decided to make the temporary structure permanent, and now everyone can tour the inside for the very cheap $6 entrance fee. Or watch it in Percy Jackson and the Olympians, take your pick.
