If it wasn't so far away from where I work, god, would I be tempted to move to Salem.

Hmm, I don't know a lot about the "must do's" in Boston since I'm just south of the city in Quincy and when I do go to Boston, I stick to things on the red line, but I can tell you some of my favorite places.

My favorite used bookstore is Brattle Bookshop, it's worth a quick stop if you near Downtown Crossing/Theater District/Boston Common. The building is from the 1800s and it's just overflowing with awesome old books.

The North End is always a pretty place to go, and full of good food. You may run into a Street Festival, as it's that time of year and a large Italian-American community, so check before you go.

If you like penguins, the Aquarium is a must see.

The MFA is my favorite art musuem in Boston and has a great collection of Eastern Art and artifacts.

Copley Sqaure/Kenmore/Boston Public Lib. are full of beautiful sites.

It's worth a trip up to Harvard Sqaure just to say you've been there; there's almost always something going on.

Try to stop by a Newbury Comics. They're my favorite local chainstore in New England and have just about everything entertainment wise. Depending on where you're staying, I can tell you which one to go to. There's one at Fanuiel Hall, but it's full of tourists and the selection's not the best. My personal favorite is the one at Harvard Sqaure, but there are quite a few more in the area.

Stay out of Roxbury, Dorchester, and Southie, out of the three seriously stay out of Roxbury and Dorchester. JP can be good or bad. If you can do it, I'd avoid the orange line unless you know exactly where you are going.
