Okay, my new current musical obsession is Bat for Lashes, and while I am a little late for the party, I don't care because I love and adore her. All my friends who like female singer/songwriters with a bit more modern twist, I urge you to buy her first album,
Fur and Gold off Amazon MP3 b/c the whole of the current album is on sale right now for .99. Yes, 99 cents. Not one song but 12 whole songs. Now, granted, I'd listen to the 30 sec samples to make sure the music is something you are worth parting a dollar over for, but yeah, love her. She recently released her second album, but it is not on sale for such a low price. Still, gah. New Musical Obsession time is so much fun. I haven't been this excited since I discovered Imogen Heap. I'll probably come with a more detailed review of her work later, but I had to share this with some of my friends.
red_ajah,
aduial_peredhel and
ophelia_fae I am looking at you three when I say this.
Other musical things I am currently in love with:
My Chemical Romance's "Heaven Help Us." This is so a Castiel and Dean song.
Empires' "Hayley." I have no idea what it's about, it's different from anything else on Howl, but I love it.
Stevie Nicks' cover of Dave Matthews Band's "Crash Into Me." I do not think I can stand this much awesome at once. One of my favorite music idols of all time singing one of my favorite DMB's songs.
In real life news:
Class was funny as all hell today. We have an awesome bunch of people and we always have fun talking before class. Today was partically good for two events:
Our classmate, original from London, made a statement about Bank of America and 33% interest rate and how that shit does not go down in the UK. She shook her head and said, "Who do they think they are, Bank of Voldemort?"
After that, our class got into this huge discussion about "The Real Housewives of New York City." Our prof walked in, laughed at us, and said, "This is really fascinating." He was being serious. Then he started talking about the tv show Kings which I have been meaning to watch and probably will, right before it gets axed. It's just...it's on the same time as Amazing Race and I love my amazing race.
Also, best moment of NCIS tonight: "He killed Bunnies!" Oh, Abby, I love you so much.
AND SO MUCH LOVE TO VERMONT. Four states how have now legalized Gay Marriage. It's slowly happening, but guys, three more states have legalized gay marriage since Nov. Just. So. Happy. So, Mass, CT, Iowa, and VT, you are all awesome for this, though not so awesome at other times. It's still a struggle, I've lived in Mass for close to three years now, in the area right outside Boston, and it's still full of ignorant people who say hateful things, but at least the right to marriage is here, for all of its other faults.
Now, back to editing. Joy.
