Boyne Valley part 1

Sep 01, 2008 21:24

Again, sorry for the spam.

First, Dublin on the way out:

Canal, and the big-ass sport stadium:

Famous colored doors:

Random water and village pics:

Look carefully for the thatched roof:

Monasterboice, home of some of the famous Irish High Crosses. They are Celtic Crosses which have figures and celtic symbols carved into them, beleived to have been used to teach the native Irish about Christanity; a use of pictures for a population that could not read. The round tower is also a unique aspect of Irish monastic life.

More of Monasterboice to come, followed by Mellifont Abbey, and then Newgrange.

In other news:

Alert the presses, I've been working on "A Journey Begins.." all day. I'm 13 single-spaced pages into the chapter and only about half-way done. I'm debating on posting until I have the while fic finished (I only have 3 more chapters and an epi planned), but it's been about two years since I posted, so um, better late than never? Coming back to the characters was liking coming back to old friends, and it was good to slip into that mindset again. Typical though; I need to be writing an academic research paper and yet I write fic.
