Here via Heyiya -- start with the Wikipedia list Epilady mentioned. As for teen-appropriate titles, I can't recommend Brian K. Vaughan's Runaways heavily enough -- they just finished the second 24-issue series, in which one of the major characters is revealed to be a lesbian. Go ahead and pick up the first 6 trade paperbacks, if you can afford to -- neither you or the boy will regret it.
