I just worked a pretty long five days...everyone's traveling back home from Mardi Gras, since we had a huge celebration in Lake Charles this year. We drew some of the usual New Orleans crowd since that city still isn't quite up to its old level of festivities. So yeah, lots of partying and general business over the last week for our area.
I've been meaning to post for a while, but it usually went something like this: I'd get on LJ and read other peoples' stuffs and look at their icons. Then I'd think, "I need new icons". They all got lost on this computer, so I'd go to my computer with the thumb drive to retrieve them. Then I'd think, "No, I need to make really new icons." So I'd open photoshop and start messing around, and then I'd think, "Man, these pics look so awesome on my new computer" and start cycling through my pic galleries. So in short, much futzing was done rather than posting. I do, however, have a couple of new icons. This newest is in honor of me totally winning a Halo match the other night against my more experienced male relatives. I love rocket launchers as default first weapon ^o^
My newest purchase for Japan is my excellent Olympus Stylus digital camera and its 1 gig memory card. I've never had a digital camera before, and I'm surprised by how much I want to take pictures with it. I think part of the reason I never used old cameras as much was because I knew that I was going to have to go to the store and pay to get the film developed and then go back into town to pick it up, and so on and so on. But with this, I can just take pics and it's so hassle free! I sound like a commercial. But I'm happy with it, and even happier that I actually have the money saved on the side to pay for it. Still waiting for that tax return to come in so I can pay for my computer...
I've been buying clothes too, but I've resolved not to buy much more, if any at all. Seriously, I have more clothes now than I think I've had in my whole life combined. I have a walk-in closet and it's full of stuff that I actually do wear, so throwing things out isn't an option. I just keep thinking, there's no way I'm gonna fit even half of this in a suitcase to take with me. So no more clothes! Unless it's a deal I can't pass up. Big stores like Dillards had their blowouts on coats over the past two weeks, and I even got a leather jacket for like, $15. I'm not just blowing my money, I promise, even tho that's what it sounds like ^_^ As for the sudden urge for clothes shopping...maybe it's just a belated response. I never cared about it when I was a teen and all the other girls were saving their money for shoes. So I guess I'm getting it all at once or something.
The latest from NOVA is that they've got that paperwork that I need to get a visa issued in Japan, and they're in the process of issuing it to me via Fedex. Once I get it I have to go to a Japanese embassy and get my actual visa. Also, it appears that my date of whoa!! There's a huge spider on my keyboard! ...Okay, now he' s outside where he belongs. As I was saying, my flying out has been changed to the 27th of March. Nice to have more time at home, sucks because it puts me in a higher plane tix price bracket. Oh well. Still have to sell my car. I'm gonna list it this week...but I'm waiting till Wednesday. There's a girl at work who might seriously want it. She gave me her number to call about it, but I've lost it. Thus I have to wait until we both work again on Wednesday. My last day of work is tentatively the 9th. Sounds good to me.
I've also decided to open up a MySpace account. Oh, the evil. But a lot of the people that I know locally as well as my cousins are on Myspace rather than LJ. Also, Myspace is much more picture friendly. I thought I'd do Myspace for my family to come visit, a sort of my life in Japan thing, a daily diary type thing instead of the occaisional rambling that I do here. But I'm still gonna keep up with this one. I think of this one as a little more personal.
I'm pretty much happy every day, and all of my days are a lot alike. But still good! I go to work, come home and exercise, hang out with my family, and so on. I usually fit in an ep or three of Kyou Kara Maoh before bed. I love that show so much. I know it's not high art and it uses the same jokes over and over, but it's genuinely entertaining. It's total fun juice. I'm halfway through. Someday if they release a DVD boxset, I think I'll buy it. Right now FFXII is on hiatus--I burned out on it, and there's just not enough hours in the day. I wanted to read the Count of Monte Cristo, but I can't find it around the house so I guess I'll have to head to the library. And this post is getting really rambly. Hmm. Maybe I'll break off for now and see if I can't make another post tomorrow ^_^
