WHO: Yu Kanda, Daisya Barry, Lenalee Lee, Froi Tiedoll, Gregory House
WHAT: Kanda is in a lot of damn trouble.
WHERE: Exorcist's Home
WHEN: The day the SOS Brigade returns from the jungle.
(
The first thing he became aware of had been the warm sun in his face and strong arms holding him. )
Ignoring Tiedoll completely, House kept his focus on Lenalee. The flicker of recognition he'd seen in her eyes wasn't that of a former meeting-she recognized his name; that was all. And he didn't think she was faking that.
"Not today," he answered her flatly, which was the closest thing he'd given anyone to reassurance so far. It was true though-he didn't know exactly what was wrong with Kanda yet, but he knew he was stable, that he wasn't hemorrhaging, and that barring another major event he wasn't in any immediate danger. That did not mean, however, that House was going to just sit back and hope for the best.
"So. What were you wearing while Kanda here"-he only remembered the guy's name because she had just said it-"was running around in a you-suit?"

"When did you start to change back, how long did it take, and did anybody see it happen?"

"Stopped and started. Describe it. Was it localized--an arm then a leg? Or everywhere at once. Tell me what it felt like."

The paralysis was interesting. He paused on that momentarily: "You couldn't move--for how long? Did you lose consciousness at all?"
He paused and then, apparently sparing no concern for her modesty asked, "Any nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or blood in your bowel movements--at any time, either before, during or since your whole switcheroo?"

"It was maybe an hour or two that I couldn't move," she said. "I kept going in and out of consciousness through the whole change back, but I was out for some time after I was paralyzed. And I was sick to my stomach in the middle of the change, a couple of times."

He would have absolutely no problem at all kicking Tiedoll and Daisya unceremoniously out of the room. Especially because he knew where his questions were heading.

I'm sorry, Daisya, she thought. I hope you understand, but it's to help Kanda.

It had to work that way.
