Al cracked the door open, poking his head around to peer into the room.

"Colonel Mustang?" he said hesitantly, before opening the door a little wider and gesturing behind him - to the space still blocked from view by the door. "It's Al - ah, Alphonse Elric. And my...my brother."

He stepped into the room, but only just over the threshold, and waited there for Ed to join him. While he waited, he addressed Roy again. "How are you doing? Any better? I know they have some incredible healers here - I've seen what they can do firsthand."

He'd managed to avoid needing their services, for the most part, but Ed seemed rather accident-prone, and it had been more than once he'd ended up here, watching his brother get patched up.

Ed stepped in after Al, his hands stuffed deep in his pockets and eyeing the possibly far-too-familiar walls of the clinic room. He'd probably been here far too much than comfortable. He twitched a little at the thought before he looked over at Roy. Ed was probably taller than the man remembered. Looked older -- more like a young(slightly vertically challenged. Ed liked calling it that more than 'short') man.

"Mustang," He greeted, stopping at the end of Roy's bed. He crossed his arms over his chest, watching the Colonel. He didn't know what kind of mess Roy had gotten himself into... He couldn't remember anything like this -- wounds on the Colonel that matched these. Then again, Ed wasn't always constantly around Central... But he remembered Envy, who insisted on things not being true that Ed knew were true. In his world, anyways.

"What'd you do to yourself, Old man?" He asked.

When Ed and Al entered the room, the expression on his face was a mix between shock and surprise. The two boys were the last two people he expected to see here, on this strange island. And they looked... different from what he remembered.

Ed actually looked like he matured a little (and "matured" was a term he used loosely). He obviously didn't look like the Ed he remembered before he left(?); this one was definitely older, and maybe a few inches taller. Then of course, there was Al, which was quite obvious. He was human. How in the world did they accomplish that?

His rationalization kicked in then. Alphonse with a body and an older Edward could only mean that they had to be from the future. How far into the future from his time, he didn't know ( ... )

Al smiled, relieved. "That's good - I'm sure everything will turn out just fine."

To be honest, Al was glad to see the Colonel again, even with everything that had come to light since his arrival. He had always been reliable, always done what he could to protect Al and Ed, and it was comforting to have him here.

Not to mention that, with wounds as bad as they had sounded, he was probably better off here than back in Amestris. Medical technology was good back home, but it was nothing compared to the odd...well, magical healing possessed by many of the people who worked in the clinic.

But, come to think of it... A small frown creased Al's face. He didn't remember the Colonel ever suffering wounds like this. A battle, he'd said, but...nothing like this had ever happened, had it? So what could the Colonel be talking about?

Ed glanced over at Al, noticing the frown, especially after Roy's words. He knew his brother well enough to know that he was probably following the same train of thought Ed was. That this Roy wasn't, precisely, the one of their world. It was easy as ever to fall into the role of explaining things, because it always seemed like it was he who had to piece things together.

"A battle," He said, voicing his thoughts out loud. "One I clearly don't remember. Given that the only battle I know you were in was against the Fuhrer. Yet, when you arrived you didn't know I turned in my State Watch. Either way, I've learned from that fight, you sustained an injury to your eye and wore an eyepatch. Al is from farther into my future than I am, and even he looks puzzled." Ed scratched at his chin a little, putting on hand on his hip and looking out the window ( ... )
