grandma dinners, ice cream cones, dresses, -- sunday in a nutshell

May 16, 2005 15:02

hello there....

well, i'm sitting amidst an all too messy bedroom ... i kind of wish that i would stop sitting at the computer and instead get up and clean the room, but i decided i'd instead write in here - to you fine folks (the jack dawson quotes aren't going to end any time soon; i apologize).

so it seems that summer has started and therefore the tales of misadventures of life here may begin as well.

yesterday i went dress shopping with my mother.  i was (and continue to be) in pursuit of a simple, summery looking dress to wear to my cousin's wedding.  crossgates mall would seemingly have at least one dress in it that i could like/want to wear.  unfortunately, dresses seem to morph once on me, turning in to awful pieces of fabric that make me look in some way deformed.  this is quite a terrible thing for these pieces of fabric to be doing, because i am willing to pay one to look normal.  ...the quest for a dress will continue well in to this week but will hopefully end sometime soon.

last night my grandmother came over for dinner, which was (as one could expect) quite interesting.  patrick, henry, and i spent the time directly following the meal (the period of time where you're still sitting at the table but no longer eating) telling my grandmother bad jokes and hoping that she would laugh at some of them.  such laughing occurred very infrequently.  also in this period of time, i ate a bowl of fruity pebbles, myself thinking such was a nice suplement to the ham dinner i had just eaten.  my family seemed to think this was an odd choice, and several comments were made to express this.  my grandmother referenced several other items that could be dessert, and after each she referenced my bowl of fruity pebbles, implying that perhaps i should regret my choice to eat the bowl of deliciously fruity little flakes.  i stood by my decision.

after grandma left, i sat down to watch the simpsons with henry.  henry was eating a bag of popcorn, and i had in the palm of my hand a nice amount of reeces pieces.  silently, i took four reeces pieces and handed them to henry, which he accepted and ate without speaking.   I then took popcorn from his bag,  again without speaking.  I found this exchange to be quite strange.

then tracy came over... which was awesome because i love tracy and i haven't see her in so long.  so we went on a short quest to frank's to get ice cream cones (essence of summer) and then came back here and talked about life, which is always good.

then i called garret, who i miss.

and then i tried to watch tv - because i pretend that i like to do that before i fall asleep...but really i was exhausted and i just wanted to sleep.  so i did...

for too long!  and i didn't wake up until like 11:15 today which sucks because i need to find a job at a temp agency and i had wanted to do that earlier than..RIGHT NOW!

so i just called a temp agency in albany somewhere... and the girl answered the phone, and i said "hi, i'm interested in seeking temporary employment and i was hoping to get information about -"

and she interrupted me to say "What's your name?"  which made me feel dumb because i should have already told her my name...

and then she said "and your phone number?" and i told her, and she promptly said "okay, we'll call you back."
... so that was weird.

the most fun part about that was that i have a semi-fear of calling people when i'm calling as myself.  does that make sense?  okay, like, in florida i had no problem calling people because i was calling as a disney cast member, within the company...so it's kind of like i'm calling as a part of disney, not as lauren mcgrail from latham.  but in order to obtain a job (yes, obtain) i have to call as me about me.  so i'm afraid to do that.  so, i open up final draft, and i write myself a script -- which is dumb, because i only had one line :  "Hi, my name is Lauren McGrail and I'm interested in seeking temporary employment."  i don't think the script even helped me ... but wow, was it a good time-killer.

Always good to have a time killer.  Like this one!
....okay i'm going to go call another temp agency...and maybe clean my room...

p.s. latham installed a second dunkin donuts, across the street from our existing one, because they wanted to have one on both sides of the road.  HELP.
