Yup, this pretty much marked the end of my mini movie marathon for now. I actually watched this the day after I watched 2012. =)
Soon it'll be Avatar + HK movie Bodyguards and Assassins + Sherlock Holmes + Alvin and the Chipmunks 2 marathon coming up. Gotta dig up more money for that, but nvm....
Have been hearing extreme reviews on New Moon. Some girls gush over how great this movie is, some said it's boring. Most guys think it's boring too. For me, it's.... right smack in the middle. Neither here nor there. Ninja Assassin is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better. A gal friend totally gushed over how good looking Edward/Rob Pattinson was in the movie, and that he has that certain body part (which we collectively called it the obliques) that's supposed to be my fetish.... and she also rattled on and on about how great Taylor/Jacob's body was in the movie. But after watching it.... Nah, Rain is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better. Taylor's body is more like one of a pro-wrestler. As in, there's obviously fats among the muscles to make him appear intimidatingly BEEEG.
But Rain is totally lean and HARD. Muscles muscles and more muscles. No fats.
okay, i shan't compare and complain.
This movie is pretty much like the book AKA not very entertaining as compared to the other 3. Though they did try to speed up Bella's BORING emo parts into just... less than 10 seconds, the main focus of New Moon is still on emo-emo Bella who is constantly nursing the GAPING HOLE in her heart by appearing soul-less; screaming in her sleep; attempting suicidal stunts, and on the werewolf pack. New Moon is not my least favourite book of the Twilight Saga for nothing. Nope, I have nothing against the werewolves, though I'll very much prefer the Cullens family. But emo-emo Bella really puts me off. Sorry, Bella fans.
Some scenes that totally got me frowning was Jacob taking off his shirt to wipe away the blood from Bella's head wound. I was like, there's absolutely no need for that! But I guess it's meant for those with pro-wrestler maccho body fetish people. *shrugs* Another was Bella screaming in her sleep. I think that was really overdone.
Oh, but one thing I really like about the movie New Moon is having Dakota Fanning as Jane! She is soooooooooooooooooo pretty with the vampire make up, unlike Rob Pattinson who looked rather bad with it. Her haughty sadistic expression as she inflicted pain upon Edward with her special gift was good too. I'm hoping that she can get more scenes in the next two books but it seems like Jane will still be a side character in Eclipse.
Okay, so all in all, I would say the movie is actually comparable/even better than the book itself (which is quite a feat because Movies tend to not be better than the book). But the main reason for this is because they cut away the parts where Bella emo-ed by herself. Yeah, that really worked wonders for me. Well, actually you can just skip the emo parts in the book too... right?
So conclusion is: If you're a Twilight saga fan, no reason for skipping it. If you're just bored and wanna find some movie to watch, watch some other movies. I'll recommend Ninja Assassin over this one. =) Yes, I'm horribly Rain-bias. So shoot me.
