Summary: When Koyama and his wife decide to go on a vacation for a day, he hires the rest of his fellow members to watch his child.
Notes: The OCs are from one of my earlier fanfics,
Beloved Memories. My inspiration for this story was "Childminder Arashi", a segment from the variety show "Himitsu no Arashi-chan" which features of course, Arashi! :D
Koyama plopped onto his soft bed and sighed. "So tired. Thank god tomorrow's a vacation."
Even though he usually comes home at six, Koyama came home two hours later due to some technical difficulties in the photography studio when he was modeling for the next issue of Myojo.
"If it weren't for that stupid power outage in the studio, I would of been able to eat with the family together." He mumbled into the pillow.
Just then, Koyama's wife, Rika, walked into the bedroom and snuggled up to her husband. "Another tiring day, darling?" She asked sweetly. Koyama's heart almost melted when Rika cheered him up so he caressed her cheek.
"Pretty much. Himeka's asleep?"
Rika nodded. "Safe and sound. Sorry about eating dinner without you."
Koyama shook his head and smiled. "It's okay. So, you all ready for tomorrow?"
Rika smiled back in a weird way. "Y-Yeah..."
Since tomorrow was a three-day vacation for all the members of NEWS, Koyama decided to take Rika on a one-day trip to Japan's most popular tourist spot, Karuizawa. Although they were both excited to go, Rika had only one little worry.
Rika bit her lip. "Do you think Himeka will be fine with us not being around tomorrow? I mean, it is our first time leaving her home for a day."
"Don't worry your little head," Koyama kissed her in reassurance. "I asked the guys to watch her for the whole day so she'll be a-okay five childminders around her!"
Rika then started to smile. "I...guess she'll be okay then..."
"See? I told you so!"
The next day comes and it's about half past seven. The couple left the house a few minutes ago and Himeka was still asleep. She usually wakes up at eight. The apartment door is opened by Yamapi. He used the spare key Koyama lent him in order to get in. Then five men entered to start their long day.
They all walked into the kitchen and found two notes on the counter. Ryo took one of them and started reading it out loud to the others. "'Sorry about ruining everyone's vacation on the very first day but I hope you all are doing well and will have fun with Himeka today. The second note is Himeka's daily schedule so make sure you all follow it properly. Medicine and first-aid is in the cabinet next to the refrigerator and emergency phone numbers are taped on that cabinet door inside, just in case if anything bad happens. Have fun and good luck as being childminders for a day! From, Koyama Keiichiro and Koyama Rika.'."
"What's a 'childminder'?" Tegoshi asked confusingly.
"It's someone who takes care of their child or a child of another family. It's just a fancy way of calling someone a babysitter." Shige pointed out with his high intellect.
"Ahh, that makes sense!" Tegoshi dumbfoundedly replied and Shige rolled his eyes.
Massu took the other note. "I'm guessing this must be Hime-chan's schedule."
The schedule read the following:
8:00~8:30 - Wake-up
8:30~9:30 - Breakfast
9:30~11:30 - Play
11:30~12:30 - Lunch
12:30~2:30 - Nap
2:30~4:30 - Walk
4:30~5:30 - Bath
5:30~7:00 - Dinner
7:00~8:00 - Play
8:00~ - Sleep
"Wow, a three year old's daily schedule is this hectic?" Ryo blinked.
"It'll be fine Ryo-chan," Yamapi spoke up. "Since there's five of us, we'll split up the jobs. But for now, you and I should make breakfast for Hime-chan."
"Sure." Ryo agreed.
"Hime-chan should be waking up soon so Tegoshi, go to her room and wait until she wakes up." Yamapi ordered.
Tegoshi saluted. "Roger that, Yamashita-kun!" He walked down the hall and into the child's room.
"That should do for now. Shige and Massu, you can wait until later, 'kay?" Yamapi ordered once more.
Shige and Massu exchanged looks. "Alright." They agreed in unison.
"Hime-chan!" Tegoshi singsonged to the still-asleep child. His plan failed so he shook her lightly. "Wake up, sleepy head! Hi--ah!"
It seems his plan worked. Himeka's eyes started to open and she yawned. When she could properly see, she blinked in confusion. "Yuya...niichan...?"
Tegoshi showed off his usual sparkling smile and nodded. "Mm-hmm. Morning!"
"Good morning..." She rubbed her eyes. "Where's mama?"
Tegoshi twitched. Although Himeka knows Koyama is already at work when she wakes up, Rika stays home to watch her until he gets home. Also, nobody thought of an excuse to tell Himeka if she possibly asked where Koyama and Rika are. So, he panicked for a moment but then thought of an excuse. "U-Uhh, mama went out to take papa to work."
"But papa has no work today..." She remarked.
Touche... Tegoshi thought and made another excuse to save himself. "O-Oh yeah, right, silly me! Mama is taking papa out to the doctor's. But don't worry, they'll be home very soon!"
"Really?"
"Y-Yeah...!" Tegoshi felt bad that he was lying to her but it couldn't be helped. If he told the truth, Himeka would be crying right now in lonliness.
Later, Tegoshi and Himeka, who was now all dressed for the day, came out of the bedroom. The other four members greeted Himeka and she was all confused again.
"Everyone's here...why...?"
Shige walked towards her and escorted her to the kitchen table. "We all thought of coming to visit today so that's why."
Yamapi came out of the kitchen and sat next to Himeka. "Ryo-chan and I are now making breakfast. You hungry?"
Himeka smiled. "Uh-huh!"
It was now playtime and was about to end in a half hour. This time, Massu took over the kitchen to make lunch. While Tegoshi, Shige, Ryo, and Yamapi were playing a card game with Himeka in the living room, Himeka put down her cards and headed towards the door.
"Papa and mama are late. Does it take this long to go to the doctor's?" She folded her arms and pouted.
Ryo walked up towards her. "What are you saying? They ain't at the doctor's!"
Himeka turned around and got all nervous. "They're...not...?"
"Nope. They went out on a vacation." Ryo blurted out the truth plainly with no ill-feeling.
Himeka then began to cry. Yamapi, Shige, and Tegoshi rushed in and Yamapi picked her up. "What the heck did you do, Ryo-chan!?"
Ryo shrugged. "I just told her Koyama and Rika are on vacation and now she started to cry."
Tegoshi slapped him on the shoulder. "You idiot! You know you're not supposed to tell her that!"
"But telling the truth is the right thing to do!" Ryo replied.
"Well not in a situation like this!" Shige butted in but then his cellphone inside his pocket started to ring so he walked into the living room to take his call. "Hello? This is Kato speaking."
"Shige? It's me, Koyama. Just checking in on how Himeka's doing. Is she fine?"
Shige's eyes widened. He didn't want Koyama worrying about his daughter missing him and his wife so he made up a lie. "S-She's great! Everyone's playing with her so there's no need to worry!"
Just then, Himeka's cry from the entrance became louder and could be heard through the phone.
Koyama got worried. "Is that Himeka crying?"
"N-No, it's Tegoshi," Shige lied again. "He's just being a whiny bitch 'cause he lost another card game."
"Are you sure you're not pulling my leg or anything?"
"N-Not at all! Ah, Massu just finished making lunch so we're gonna eat now. Bye!" Shige lied once again so wouldn't make Koyama worry anymore.
"Wait a se--"
But it was too late. Shige already hung up and went back to see if Himeka calmed down but he was wrong. Yamapi was still carrying her so she could calm down but she kept crying.
"Come on, Hime-chan, don't cry! Weren't you going to have fun with us today?" Yamapi patted her back and bounced on his feet. Then, Himeka started to squirm and Yamapi let her down. But once he did, she stormed back to her room.
"Now look what you did, Nishikido-kun! Hime-chan got all upset!" Tegoshi scolded.
Ryo bit his lip. "S-Sorry..."
Shige then smiled. "Wait here, guys. I've got an idea!"
Shige went into Himeka's room and saw her sitting next to her bed, pouting. Shige sat next to her and called out her name in a gentle voice. "Hime-chan!" The little girl looked at him but scooched away, showing that she wanted "personal space".
"Aww, come, Hime-chan, smile! Please, for me?" But, Himeka kept the same pout on her face and folded her arms.
Shige now started to smirk. "Looks like I have no choice. If you won't smile, the tickle monster will get you!!" Shige then started to tickle Himeka and she squeaked in surprise but then started to giggle. When Shige stopped tickling Himeka, her smile reappeared.
"Shige-niichan, you meanie!" Himeka playfully pushed him.
"Well, that just can't be helped!" Shige pinched her cheeks and they laughed.
"Guys! Lunch is ready!" Massu yelled from the kitchen.
Himeka pulled Shige's hand. "Come on, Shige-niichan! Hime's now hungry!"
Shige nodded and followed her. Looks like she forgot all about them...
After lunch was nap time. This time, both Tegoshi and Massu took the challenge. The three went to her bedroom and Massu, who was now carrying Himeka, laid her down on the bed.
"Alright, Hime-chan, time for your nap!" Massu said as he tucked her in.
"But Hime's not sleepy..." She remarked.
"You must be sleepy now that your belly's all full, aren't you?" Tegoshi asked as he patted her stomach playfully.
"No..." Himeka replied.
Massu tapped Tegoshi's shoulder and whispered. "How about we sing her a lullaby?"
"But what should we sing?"
Massu smiled. "How about
that song?"
Tegoshi smiled back. "Good idea! Ready? Five, six, seven, eight...!"
The two started to sing softly and soon enough, Himeka's eyes were drooping and she was finally asleep when the song finished.
The two exchanged a small high five and whispered, "Mission accomplished!" in unison.
Meanwhile, Koyama and Rika we're completely enjoying their day-trip in Karuizawa. Now they were relaxing at the park and were taking a stroll, hand in hand.
Rika laid her head on Koyama's shoulder. "The warm breeze feels so nice..."
Koyama nodded back but then sighed.
Rika blinked. "Something wrong, Keiichiro?"
Koyama shook his head. "N-No, it's nothing."
Rika puffed out her cheeks. "Liar! Tell me what's the matter."
"I'm worried about Himeka. Do you think she's alright?"
Rika then smiled. "Ohh, so that's what it's all about. Don't worry!" Rika got on her tiptoes and kissed his cheek. "Yamapi and the others are taking care of her, aren't they? She's totally fine, I know it!"
Koyama smiled back and felt a bit more relieved. "Yeah, I guess you're right. I wonder what they're doing now...?"
Nap time was over and now Himeka was out on a walk with Yamapi. He took her to the local playground she usually goes with Rika. He also wore his favorite designer glasses so nobody would recognize him. After an hour of play passed, the two rested on a bench, side by side.
Himeka sighed and leaned onto Yamapi which caught his attention. "Something wrong, Hime-chan?"
She looked up at him worried eyes. "Tomo-niichan, do papa and mama still love Hime?"
Yamapi blinked in shock. "What are you saying, Hime-chan? Of course they do!"
"Then why didn't they take Hime along, too? They must hate Hime a lot!" She then started to cry and Yamapi hugged her to calm her down.
How do I explain this to a young child...? Yamapi wondered but then had an idea. He loosened the hug and looked at Himeka. "Hime-chan, sometimes when grown-ups, like your papa and mama, get all tired from working so hard each day, they need to be alone at times like this in order to relax and reenergize themselves so they can work again."
"But do papa and mama still love Hime?"
Yamapi smiled. "Of course, they love you and they always will! Even if they are far away from you like right now, they're always thinking about you, no matter what!"
Himeka wiped her tears and tried to smile. "Really?"
"Yup! Well, it's starting to get dark so let's get home and give you a bath and then eat dinner, alright?"
"Okay."
When the two came back to the apartment, Ryo gave Himeka a bath and Shige prepared dinner this time. After Himeka was all cleaned up, Ryo began to blow dry her hair which took about twenty minutes.
Ryo turned off the hair-dryer. "Alright, you're all dry!" He unplugged the device and put it back in the bathroom cabinet. Himeka was about to leave the bathroom to go to the kitchen but then Ryo stopped her and bent down to her eye-level.
"Hime-chan, sorry about making you cry earlier. I didn't mean to make you upset." Ryo patted her head and then she suddenly hugged him.
"It's okay. Hime still loves Ryo-niichan so Hime's not mad at all!"
Ryo smiled and poked her cheek. "You're a very sweet girl, Hime-chan, you know that?"
During dinner time, Himeka finished her meal first and was about to leave the table until Shige stopped her.
"Wait a minute, Hime-chan, come back here," Shige pointed to her plate. "Eat your peppers or you're not allowed to leave the table."
Himeka pouted. "But Hime doesn't like peppers!"
"But if you don't eat them properly you won't grow bigger!" Massu tried to persuade her.
"Then how did Yuya-niichan grow bigger, Taka-niichan? He didn't eat his peppers either!" She pointed to Tegoshi and she was indeed correct. Tegoshi left his share of peppers on his plate, too.
Tegoshi bit his lip. Crap! Looks like I've got no choice... And with that, he shoveled down the peppers down his throat quickly so he wouldn't get a hint of the bad taste but still winced. He swallowed slowly, chugged down his water to get the bitter taste out of his mouth, and let out a sigh of relief. "S-See, Hime-chan? I ate my peppers, didn't I...?"
Himeka puffed out her cheeks in defeat and did the same thing Tegoshi did. After eating her dreaded veggies, she stuck her tongue at Shige and Massu. "Shige-niichan and Taka-niichan are meanies!"
Massu shook his head. "We're not meanies, we care for you and want you to be healthy so that's why you have to eat your vegtables properly in order to stay that way, even if you don't like them. Right, Shige?"
Shige nodded. "That's right, Hime-chan, we just care for you. Understand?"
Himeka pouted. "Fine, Hime understands."
An hour almost passed and it was almost Himeka's bed time. Everyone was watching a NEWS concert DVD to let the time pass by and suddenly, the doorbell rang.
"We're home!" A happy voice rung from the entrance and Himeka perked up. When she left the living room, she found Koyama and Rika at the entrance.
"Papa! Mama!" Himeka exclaimed and ran towards her parents. Koyama scooped her up and kissed her. Rika did the same thing and hugged her.
"Welcome back, guys." Yamapi and the others came out of the living room also and smiled when they saw Himeka's smiling face when she was reunited again with her parents.
"How was the trip?" Tegoshi asked.
"Lovely," Rika replied. "But now I'm just happy we're home and get to see Himeka again."
"So, how was it for you guys?" Koyama asked back.
"Hime-chan was a very good girl today." Shige spoke up.
"We had fun as much as she did!" Massu added.
"We're very glad to hear that then!" Koyama replied.
"Thank you guys so much! You all were such a big help today! Sorry about messing up your break!" Rika apologized.
Ryo chuckled. "It's nothing, really. We always enjoy seeing her."
"Well thank you anyway," Rika repeated and turned to her daughter. "Himeka, what do you say to everyone?"
Himeka did a slight bow of gratitude. "Thank you very much for today!"
Yamapi bowed back. "You're very welcome," The five headed out the door and everyone said their goodbyes.
On the walk home, Ryo was the first to speak up. "Dang, that was one long day!"
"Yeah, now I know how Kei-chan and Rika-chan must feel each day. Kids are really hectic!" Tegoshi agreed.
"But still, wasn't it worth it? I mean, with all that hard work, you still get to see someone's smile like Hime-chan showed us today." Shige pointed out.
"You've got a point there, although raising a child seems tough, it's still very rewarding." Massu tried to summarize Shige's words.
"So pretty much, today was very fun." Yamapi finished it off and the others laughed. Yamapi then smiled to himself. I wonder when we can do this again next time...?
This idea also was stuck in my head for a while too but I could never get my fingers on the keyboard to type it up! And now, here it is! Ta-daaaa!! xDDD;; *shot*
Well, hope you enjoyed it! It's too late at night here and I've got nothing to say so, see ya next time! Bye!! :3
