Summary: Koyama has been married for three years and has a kid. On the day of the couple's anniversary, Koyama remembers some of the memorable days before his first child was born.
The vibration of Koyama's cellphone echoed in the master's bedroom. Once this was heard, Koyama got up from bed, still a bit sleepy, and got ready to head out for work.
"Six thirty..." He thought out loud but in a soft voice so he wouldn't wake up his wife. Koyama smiled to himself. "Yeah, I think I can get ready in thirty minutes."
And within those thirty minutes, Koyama was already showered and clean, dressed, and had his morning coffee. He was all set. Koyama then went into the kitchen and opened the refrigerator. "Found it!" Koyama grabbed the bento box that was his lunch for the day and closed the fridge.
Then, he went back to the master's bedroom and gave his still-sleeping wife a kiss on her cheek. "Good morning, Rika*. I'm gonna get going now, 'kay?" He whispered.
Koyama then headed to his daughter's bedroom and watched his little three-year old sleep peacefully like her mother. Koyama kissed her on the cheek, too. "Morning, Himeka. Papa's gotta go to work now, so I'll see you later. Make sure you take care of mama today, too." He whispered, trying not to wake up the child.
Before leaving, Koyama then noticed the calendar. On there was today's date, May 6th, circled in pink marker and said "Anniversary". Koyama smiled to himself and then looked at his gold wedding band. "It's already been three years, huh? Marriage, childbirth, and now we're a happy family." With that, he ripped out a piece of paper from his memo and quickly wrote down a note. He then left it on the kitchen counter and then rushed out the door for work.
Koyama's note read:
Dear Rika and Himeka,
Good morning to the both of you. I've already left for work so I'll see you later. Love you both.
--Keiichiro
P.S.
Rika, Happy Anniversary.
~*~*~*~
It's been three months since Koyama's marriage to Rika and they were completely happy newlyweds. However, Koyama didn't know that one day when he came home from work, he would be even happier than ever.
"I'm home!" Koyama yelled from the entrance and took off his shoes. Just then, Rika popped out from the living room and smiled at the sight of her husband.
"Welcome back, Keiichiro." Rika hugged Koyama and then he gave her a "welcome back kiss". Rika then got all fidgety. "Um, you know what, Keiichiro..."
Koyama blinked. "Hm? What is it?"
Rika lead Koyama to the living room and she showed him some black and white pictures that looked like x-ray scans that were on the coffee table. "I went to the hospital today, and, um, this is what they found..."
Koyama then remembered that earlier that morning Rika was vomiting a lot and it was his idea for her to go get a check-up at the hospital. He then looked back at the scans and his eyes widened. "Wait, Rika. Are you telling me you're...pregnant...?"
Rika blushed and nodded. "Three months already."
When Koyama heard those sacred words, a sparkling smile grew on his face and he immediately embraced Rika. "Oh my god, Rika, congrats! We're gonna be parents!"
When the celebratory hug was loosened, Rika had the same smile as Koyama. "You're gonna tell the other members, right?"
"Of course! They'll be so excited to hear this! Ah, before I go spread the big news, can we make a promise?"
"Sure, what is it?"
"If it's a boy, we'll name it with the 'Kei' from my name, and if it's a girl, we'll name it with the 'Ka' from your name**. Is that okay?"
Rika looked up with the smile still on her face. "I think that can be arranged."
The two laughed and Koyama dialed each NEWS member's number excitedly to tell the big news.
~*~*~*~
Koyama was halfway through the day and it was already noon. Time for lunch. The six members headed back to their dressing room they all shared and got out their lunches.
When Koyama opened his bento box, there was was white rice, a tiny salad, omurice*** (on top of it was his name written on it in ketchup), and a mini-shortcake shaped as a heart for dessert.
Tegoshi came over and looked over Koyama's shoulder. "Another love-bento from the wife, Kei-chan?"
Koyama nodded. "I guess you can say that."
Massu, who was sitting next to Koyama, also took a peek. "It's very well-made."
Koyama nodded again.
And across Koyama was his best friend, Shige. "You're pretty lucky to have a cute wife that can cook like Rika, huh, Koyama?"
Koyama let out a small laugh and shrugged. "Maybe."
Ryo pouted. "Wish I had a wife that can make bentos like that."
Yamapi then nudged him. "Keep dreaming, Ryo-chan."
Koyama laughed again. "Okay, guys. Enough about my lunch. Why don't you all eat yours before they get cold, 'kay?"
The five looked at each other. "He's got a point." They all agreed in unison and started to eat their lunches heartily.
Before Koyama started eating his, he noticed a small paper taped to the underside of the lid that was covering the bento. He opened it and read what it said:
Keiichiro,
Good luck with work today! Tell the members I said 'hi'.
Love,
Rika
And under the note was a drawing made by Himeka. Although it was sloppy since it's a toddler's drawing, Koyama could definitely tell what it was. It was him, his daughter, and his wife all together. And top of the drawing, Himeka wrote, "Hime loves papa and mama!"
Koyama smiled to himself. Love you, too, Rika, Himeka...
~*~*~*~
Rika was on her sixth month of pregnancy and Koyama was getting excited that in nearly two months he'll be a father. The two have been reading parenting books together and they've already set up a baby room that used to be the guest room. Although the sex of the baby could of been told at Rika's most recent check-up, she and Koyama decided they wanted it to be a surprise. So, since the two didn't know if their baby was a boy or a girl yet, the baby room was color-themed yellow.
Koyama and Rika were in the living room watching the news. The two were on the couch snuggling and had a pair of their hands entwined. Just then, Rika cringed a bit and laid a hand on her big belly. Koyama took quick notice of her actions.
"Rika, are you okay? Does it hurt?"
"No, it moved."
"Eh?"
Rika smiled and looked down at her stomach. "The baby's moving!"
Koyama put his hand on Rika's stomach also and she was correct. He felt his baby kick at him and smiled. "You're right!" Koyama then started to lapse into baby talk. "Hello in there! Papa and mama can't wait to see you!"
His wife giggled at his actions and rested her head on Koyama's shoulder.

Five hours passed and work was finally over. Koyama fiddled with his keys and opened the front door to his apartment. "I'm home!"
Suddenly, Himeka rushed towards the entrance and had a big smile on her face. "Papa!!"
Koyama bent down, scooped up his daughter, and spun her around. "Hey, kid! How was your day? Was it good?"
"Yeah! Hime went to the park today with mama and we went on the big slide!"
"Really? Was it scary?"
Himeka shook her head. "Hime slid all by herself on the second time and didn't get scared at all!"
Koyama kissed Himeka on the cheek. "That's my girl!"
Just then, Rika entered also with something behind her back. Koyama let Himeka down and she went back to what she was originally doing. Rika and Koyama shared their usual "welcome back kiss" and then showed what she was hiding. "Happy anniversary, Keiichiro." Rika's anniversary present to Koyama was inside a small black box.
Koyama opened the box and inside it was a silver wristwatch with his name engraved on it. "Wow, this is amazing! Thank you!" Koyama then dug into his bag and grabbed a small yet long, white box which was his present in exchange. "Open it."
Rika did what she told to and found a necklace with a diamond as the pendant. "Keiichiro, this is beautiful!"
"I'll put it on you." And with that, Koyama took the necklace and hooked it around Rika's neck. Koyama lead her to the bathroom to see what it looks like in the mirror. Koyama smiled. "You're pretty."
Rika giggled. "Thank you."
"I invited the members to come over for dinner. Is that okay?" Koyama asked.
Rika nodded in reply. "That's fine. I don't mind having them over. I like seeing the other members."
"Mama, what's that necklace your wearing?" Himeka suddenly peeked inside the bathroom.
Rika turned around and picked up her daughter. "Papa gave it to me for our anniversary."
"What's an 'anniversary'?" Himeka asked.
"It's a day papa and I celebrate on how long we've been married. It's kind of like celebrating a birthday." Her mother answered.
Koyama smiled. Kind of like celebrating a birthday, huh...? He thought to himself.
~*~*~*~
"Come on, Ryo-chan, hurry up!" Koyama yelled from the passenger's seat as Rika gripped his hand tightly, almost cutting off the circulation in his hand and screaming inaudible words painfully into Koyama's neck. Rika was in labor and all the members had off from work that day so they can see Koyama's first child. Ryo was driving, Yamapi was sitting in the front, Shige was in the middle passenger's seat with Koyama and Rika, and Tegoshi and Massu were in the back passenger's seat.
"I am hurryin' up! It ain't my fault your wife went into fuckin' labor at five in the morning and we were still asleep!" Ryo backfired with his harsh Kansai dialect.
"Curse in front of my baby and I'll kill you, I swear!" Rika warned.
"Ooh, I'm so scared that I might piss myself!" Ryo replied sarcastically.
"Better not intimidate her, Ryo!" Yamapi warned and was slightly scared of Rika's death-glare.
Rika hands were trying to find Ryo's neck in order to choke him but Shige held her back.
"Relax, Rika! Breathe!" Shige advised and her hands went back to Koyama's.
Koyama did the Lamaze technique with Rika while Shige whispered encouraging words softly to relax her, and Tegoshi and Massu, who were in the way back, sang to calm her down.
~*~*~*~
The doorbell rang which meant the members were here.
"Keiichiro, can you get that? My hands are kind of full right now!" Rika was busy making the food and Koyama was playing store with Himeka in her room.
"I'll clean up so can you get the door for me?" Koyama ask his daughter while he put the toys away.
"Okay!" Himeka agreed and walked to the entrance. Since she was still too small to reach the doorknob, she used an umbrella handle to open it. When the door opened, Himeka was excited when she saw everyone. "Hello!"
"Hi, Hime-chan!" Yamapi was first to speak up.
"Hey, have you grown last time I saw you?" Ryo came in and bent down.
"Yeah! Hime grew three centimeters bigger!" Himeka replied.
Koyama came out from Himeka's room and smiled. "Hey, guys, come in, come in!"
The rest took off their shoes and relaxed in the living room and Koyama went into the kitchen to help Rika prepare the food.
A few minutes later, the boys turned on the television and started to watch the most recent episode of Shounen Club. Ryo and Tegoshi were on the couch, Yamapi was sitting in the recliner, Massu and Shige were sitting on the carpet with their legs under the coffee table, and Himeka was sitting on Ryo's lap.
On the television Koyama appeared and started to sing "NEWS Nippon" with the Juniors. Himeka was smiling as she watched her father and bounced to the music in her sitting position.
"Your dad's pretty cool, isn't he?" Ryo commented. Himeka nodded in agreement and the other members laughed.
Himeka got bored, went back to her room, and came back with a sketch pad. She walked up to Massu and showed him the book. Massu blinked. "What's up?"
"Draw a picture!" She opened to a blank page and handed him a black marker.
"Hey, let me in, I wanna draw one, too!" Tegoshi interjected while he ripped out a piece of paper from the sketch pad and took an extra black marker. "What do you want us to draw?"
Himeka thought for a moment. "Draw a bunny!"
The two nodded and started to doodle. A few moments pass and the two showed off their work. Massu's drawing had a unique style to it, and as for Tegoshi's, it looked like some of an alien-like creature.
"Tegoshi, what the heck is that?" Massu pointed at his picture.
"It's a bunny, right?" Tegoshi replied a bit confused. "Right, Hime-chan? It is a bunny, isn't it?" The two looked at the small child.
Himeka titled her head to the side for a second and then shook it 'no'. Tegoshi bit his lip, feeling defeated while Massu laughed. "Do you want me to color it in?" He asked.
Himeka nodded. "Hime will get some markers." Himeka then ran to her room to get the markers she needed.
Five minutes passed and she didn't return yet. Shige was curious so he went into her room to see what Himeka was up to. When Shige went in the room, he saw her jumping up to get the markers that were on a shelf. However, since the shelf was too high for her size, she couldn't reach. Since it was an easy reach for Shige's height, he came in and took the markers off the shelf, bent down to Himeka's eye-level, and gave her the coloring utensils.
"Here, you wanted these, right?" Shige smiled.
Himeka looked at the markers blankly, then at the shelf, and then to Shige. She started to pout which then led to her crying.
Shige was startled a bit. "What's wrong, Hime-chan?"
Himeka wiped off her tears with her wrist to speak properly without sobbing. "Hime's too small, and Shige-niichan's so big. Hime wants to be big like Shige-niichan, too!"
Shige smiled and patted her head. "It's okay, when you become a grown-up, you'll definitely be bigger."
"Really?" Himeka asked with a dash of hope in it.
"Yeah," Shige then lifted her up to carry her. "Maybe you'll be even bigger than I am!"
Himeka giggled and Shige took her back to the living room until Koyama, who was still in the kitchen with Rika, spotted them together.
"Shige, what are you up to with Himeka?"
The younger man looked at his friend. "Himeka wanted to get some markers for coloring but it was on a high shelf so I helped her out."
Himeka smiled and stretched out her arms into a big circle. "Hime's gonna be bigger than Shige-niichan someday, right papa?"
"You never know, Himeka, you'll might be even bigger than papa!" Rika butted in and they all laughed.
Koyama returned to preparing the food and then he stopped cutting the vegtables with the knife. Even bigger than papa, huh...?
Rika watched her husband space out for a moment and waved a hand in front of his face. "Keiichiro, is there something wrong?"
Koyama blinked and then shook his head. "No, it's nothing..."
~*~*~*~
After twelve long hours of painful labor, a baby's loud cry could be heard in the delivery room.
"It's a girl!" The nurse shouted.
Rika sagged down on her hospital bed and sighed. "Oh, thank god it's over..."
Koyama kissed her proudly. "You did such a great job though!"
The doctor, who was cleaning the newborn, tried to get the couple's attention. "Would you two like to see your baby?"
Rika smiled and nodded. "We'd love to."
The doctor came back with the baby that was now clean and wrapped in a soft pink blanket. It was still crying a bit but once she was in her mother's arms, she stopped and was sleeping peacefully.
The two were completely smittened over their daughter. Koyama ran his fingers through her fuzzy black hair. "She's so beautiful..."
The baby opened her eyes and Rika giggled. "Look, Keiichiro, she's got your eyelids!"
Koyama nudged Rika. "Hey!"
"Then, as we promised, since she's girl, she'll get the 'Ka' from my name."
Koyama nodded. "I want us to treat her like a princess so let's name her 'Himeka'****."
"'Koyama Himeka', huh? Yeah, that sounds nice."
"Then, we shall name our child 'Himeka', please. With the characters 'princess' and flower'." Koyama told to the doctor who had the birth certificate.
"Himeka-chan, very good choice for a girl's name I must say." The doctor chuckled.
Rika looked up at her husband. "You should tell them now." She was referring to the rest of the members, who were now in the waiting room.
"Sure," Koyama kissed his wife and his daughter. "I'll see you two in a sec."
~*~*~*~
After dinner everyone left except for Yamapi. He chatted with Koyama for a bit while Rika changed Himeka into her pajamas. When she was done the four went to the entrance to all say their goodbyes.
"Well, see you tomorrow, Yamapi." Koyama smiled.
Yamapi nodded. "See ya then." He then turned to Rika, who had Himeka in tote. "Thanks for the dinner, Rika-chan. It was delicious."
"You're welcome," She replied and looked at her daughter. "Himeka, give Yamapi a goodbye kiss."
Himeka stretched towards Yamapi and kissed him on the cheek. Yamapi laughed. "Thank you, Hime-chan. Ah, before I go, I have something to give to you so, close your eyes."
Himeka closed her eyes and when she opened them, Yamapi gave her a fluffy teddy bear. It had curly, chocolate-colored fur and a red ribbon around it's neck. Himeka's eyes sparkled in delight. "It's so cute!"
"Himeka, what do you say to Yamapi?" Koyama patted her head.
Himeka bowed her head. "Thank you very much, Tomo-niichan!"
Yamapi bowed back and smiled. "You're welcome. Good night, guys."
"Night!" Koyama and Rika (Himeka already fell asleep) replied as Yamapi headed out the door.
Koyama and Rika tucked Himeka into bed and watched her sleep for a few moments until Koyama kissed Rika's head. "Thank you, Rika."
Rika blinked. "For what?"
Koyama smiled. "For making me the happiest father and husband in the world."
Rika mirrored his smile and hugged him and whispered into his ear, "Anything for you! I love you..."
"And I love you, too." He whispered back.
Jya-jyaaaan~~~~
This idea was on mind for a while but I kept having an internal battle with myself if I should write or not and I finally wrote it! v(^o^)v
Personally, I think Kei-chan is gonna become the best dad out of all of the NEWS members because of his funny personality!
Well, that's it! Hope to see you next time with a new series~~~~ ;D
*I couldn't think of any names for the OC so I used mine instead~ (I guess you can say this is my fantasy if I ever got married to Kei-chan~~ x3)
**In some Japanese families, parents would name their child with a character from their name and naming their child with that character, creating a new name. In Kei-chan's case, he wanted to use the "慶" (kei/congratulation) character from his name "慶一郎" (Keiichiro) or the "花" (ka/hana/flower) character from his wife's name "梨花" (Rika, the first character is "nashi" which means "pear"; combine the two characters together and you get "pear flower")
***A Japanese dish consisting of omelet and fried rice inside. It's usually topped with ketchup.
****"Hime" means "princess" in Japanese. If you combine the character "姫" (hime/princess) with "花" (ka/hana/flower) you get "姫花" (Himeka/princess flower)
