What A Scare
I awakened by N at 4:50 this morning rushing out of bed because he was now an hour late for getting up. Before heading downstairs he says his throat feels like he's got an egg lodged in it. When he was downstairs I can hear him hacking up. Next thing I know he's calling me saying he's spitting up blood!
I shot down the stairs to see him hacking again, and it was bright fresh blood. I said we're off to the hospital and legged it back upstairs to get dressed.
The docs can't find the cause for N's feeling like his throat is swollen and the bleeding. They inserted a camera down his nose to his throat and looked right down to his voice box. Although one tonsil is inflammed nothing else looks out of the ordinary. I said to the doc something must be causing the bleeding, as you just don't start bleeding out of the blue. There's just no reason when you were fine then inl the early hours of the morning its changed.
They sent him for a chest x-ray. We won't find out the results for 7-10 days. I'm seriously dreading the results,even despite N feeling ok within himself in general. He's a smoker and I just wish he would stop, and I hope this is smoking related so he will quit, but then I'm dreading if it's something serious like lung cancer.
N says he won't think about giving up unless there's proof it's caused by smoking. I'm like wtf! This is a wake up call. A chance to stop while you are ahead or not.
Please please please God I just want him to quit.
