last night I had the closest I have come to a deliberate OOBE*/astral projection, versus the spontaneous OOBE in childhood and other OOBE's have all happened directly direct from dream to OOBE.

last night I fell into a hypnagogic state, into a lucid dream (it felt seedy and not pleasant, like I told lily_sword about in e-mails) and then into me in bed where ( Read more... )

wild's, attempted oobe's, lucid dreams

two, I had them crossed, not straight.

Don't cross your legs.

at all, or just while astral projecting?

my astral legs had stayed straight out the whole time. my physical legs had stayed crossed.

You shouldn't really cross them at all from a medical point of view because of blood circulation and risking varicose veins etc.

As for astral projection I'm not sure. I suppose they would be crossed in some way of you were in a yoga posture but otherwise, I guess, they wouldn't be if using the positions I've read about. However, I don't really know anything about astral projection, only what I've read in a couple of Dave's books (The Magician His Training and Work by W.E. Butler and The Projection of the Astral body by Muldoon and Carrington). I only looked into these briefly to try and make sense of the out of body experiences I had following surgery. They were unintentional and I'm convinced induced by a choice cocktail of drugs as well as the surgery itself all courtesy of the NHS. Knocked me for six.

If you want me to look for specifics I can email them to you if you like. Although personally I don't think you should be attempting it at all for numerous reasons.

Apologies for the stupid leg crossing comment. Four days without eating properly is affecting my ability to concentrate on anything properly. :S

what happened, I fell asleep without meaning to and had my dream. so I had my legs crossed and still had on clothes.

the books you mentioned really woluldn't have anything knew for me. starting with Robert Monroe's Journeys out of Body I have read between five and ten books solely on OOBE's, as well as having my own experiences. (pretty sure, that since its copyright will expired that you can find the Muldoon and Carrington book online, BTW.)

you hadn't recalled having OOBE's of your own that I recall. my first (that I can recall) happened spontaneously and terrified me so that I talked about it with no one. scariest moment of my life up until that part. real terror, heart-seizing terror. certain events during the projection induced the terror. (unlike in my other projection experiences, BTW, I didn't float but had weight and I had on my pajamas. up until the end I did not realize I had another body lying in bed.)

do you say that I shoudldn't astral project?

The books I mentioned were just the first two I came accross of the ones that Dave recommended from the books he has in his collection. They answered my questions (the experience was back in 2000). I don't know if he has the other one you mention. Just had a quick glance over his books and can't see it.

I'm not sure if you would be able to find the Muldoon and Carrington one online. I just had a look at the copy on the shelf behind me and it's a fourth edition dated 1939. It was first published 1929. Assuming the fifty year copyright rather than the seventy year one applies because of the age of it you might get lucky if they died young. :)

Oddly enough my first one wasn't terrifying at the time like yours was. Your experience sounds more etheric than astral. I'll email you about mine if you like along with my answer to your last question.

Oh, and I'm breaking my fast today so hopefully I'll make some sense. I live in hope it will happen yet. ;)

now that I checked, seems like as you said, you can't find a copy of Muldoon and Carrington online.

the distinction between astral and etheric I once knew but have forgotten. will look this up.

would appreciate it if you did e-mail me like you said in the last paragraph. thanx.
