"No surgery" is the best thing I can say about my ortho appointment yesterday. What can I say that was good? The PT was correct: It IS a frozen shoulder, among other things. Frozen shoulders are interesting; if you Google them, a chart comes up that shows you the duration. I, as usual, am off the chart. I should be in the thawing process already. I am not.
I am still in the getting worse stage, made obvious by last night's foolish attempts at, of all things, sleep. It seems whatever position I get that arm into, it freezes into, and then after a few minutes I can't move it at all.
Groan.
I asked the dr to explain frozen shoulder and he went through the markers. I hit every single one of them. As Hiccup said to his father (How to Train Your Dragon) "You just gestured to all of me." They include:
Age
Gender
Post menopausal
Injury on that side (I had fallen twice on that side)
Chronic disease
Okay, so... it can take up to two years for the thawing to complete. Holy crap.
So I allowed him to help things along with a cortisone shot -- which I once said I would never in my life do again, but that's how bad this pain is -- and that will take at least a week to be effective. Did I say this sucks?
Last night's pain was so bad, I seriously considered going to the basement to sleep in one of the recliners. Only I wasn't sure I could make it down the steps safely. And then I got a migraine too. I am not a happy camper right now.
