Cook's Illustrated July&August 2006 recommends Hunt's ketchup ($1.69/24 oz), Heinz Organic ketchup ($1.99/15 oz), and Annie's Naturals Organic ketchup ($3.69/24 oz).
Heinz (not organic) ketchup, recommended with reservations ($1.69/24 oz),has always seemed to me to be the kitchen staple. Every household isn't complete until it has one of these plastic bottles tucked in the back of the refrigerator. Or in the door, if one is so inclined. This is the label I see when I think of ketchup. Talk about marketing.
