Was going to get up at 8 and ride this morning... ended up getting up at 9 and riding this morning. I rode Smokey, it was... interesting, we did more trotting than I had originally planned on, but he had energy, so we trotted. And we worked on halt-trot-halt transitions, which he didn't like... but he was better about it once he understood that he has to keep himself in balance in order to do it properly. We went for a little ride around the property and worked on making my "arena" path for his warm up. He's definitely getting better at leg yielding, and we did some turning on the forehand and some bending. He's decided it's fun to pop his shoulder out instead of bending all the time so it's something that's gotta be worked on this spring. He's a good boy though, he's such an attention suck, I can see myself getting really attached to him by the end of the summer. We did some backing too, he wasn't impressed about that either, but he got over it. The nice thing about him is that he rounds really really well but (I'm pretty sure) he doesn't try to avoid the bit, when he rounds, he takes the bit with him.
Took Logan out later and shedding bladed him, and picked up all four feet without much fuss, and then picked out all four feet with hardly any fuss, and I put Sham's bridle on him with the pinchless D... He's IMPROVED!! He wasn't happy about it but he wasn't freaking out and trying to rub the bridle off, etc like he's done previous times!!! *does the happy horse dance* So I'll put my other pinchless D on his bridle and leave it at that.
I taught Kirsten and Kissy the "go forward" cue and the "move your hips" cue.
I have to work tomorrow so I'm going to go feed my horses, then I'm going to either go to bed or do some chem (never did get any done last night). If I go to bed I'll have to get up in the morning to do chem, or I'm going to have to take all of Thursday and do nothing but chem. Well, I'll ride in the morning... Hmmm, maybe I'll take all of Thursday. Get it all done in one shot (or most of it anyway), and do the rest on Friday before the rehersal... or on Sunday... Saturday is out for obvious reasons. I keep forgetting that I don't work Saturday... Reena, maybe you'd better phone me Friday morning to remind me about everything...
Quote of the week comes from Mark: "My girl can't make it up, so will you be my date, Rhonda?"
way to make me feel loved... and yet for some reason he's one of my best friends... anyone want to explain this to me? Stupid little blonde kid.
