I rode today. It was a good ride, we worked on transitons and a bit of collection, and rounding, etc. Sham decided to try and throw a bit of a fit with the cantering, head shaking and I think she tried to JUMP into the canter instead of just transitioning, but I felt her back afterwards like Dawnna showed me, and she didn't give me any indication of pain, so right now I'm just chalking it up to her not wanting to canter, seeing as how I was asking for different leads, and she would canter just fine on her own when I *wasn't* asking her to canter... silly girl. That was a very long run on sentence, Mrs Leopky would slap me if she saw it. heh heh. Anyway, we did lots of halt-trot-halt transitions, and we even did a few walk-canter-walk transitions with a fair amount of success. We did lots of half-halts to work on her rounding, and she stretched out nice and long when I let her on the buckle, so according to what I've read, that means she WAS rounding and it wasn't just my imagination. Oh we worked on her backing too, we're FINALLY getting to the point where she doesn't swing her ass out when I ask her to back. Only took a year. For her warm up we started making an "arena" trail out in the back, she wasn't impressed about it, but it was a good warm up, we just did it at the walk, but it was still a good warm up.
I used the shedding blade on both Sham and Logan, and got 1/2 a bucket full of hair from the both of them. Worked on Logan's standing at the rail, and worked on his picking up / holding up his feet with out having a freak out. I think that with consistancy he'll get the idea that it's all good. I had to let the chin strap on his halter out another hole, and I'm now putting the head strap at the second to last hole instead of the last. My baby is growing up *cries*
I can't believe how much hair I got out of them though. I didn't have time to do anything with Smoke, so I'll ride him tomorrow, or at least round pen him, and give Sham the day off.
I took resumes into the feed store, the netshop, and the dollar store today. I really really want the one at the feed store. I know I work at the pet store, but I want the one at the feed store too. Hopefully someone'll call me this week, it's a position that they want filled ASAP, so keep yer fingers crossed for me please!
Going to feed my horses then going to go do some chemistry. My goal is to be able to give Tom at least two section reviews (preferably three) on Monday. Going to try and get up early and ride Smoke in the morning, maybe I'll get Mom to call me when she gets up at 8 tomorrow. Although if Jojo continues to get up with the birds at 7:30 in the morning and yowls to be let upstairs, I won't need her to get me up at 8, cause I'll already be up. I've never heard a cat capable of yelling as loud as Jojo can, not even a Siamese is as loud as Jojo.
Right... horses...
