The last day I brought home leaves was Wednesday and that was load #8.
The next time I had a chance to bring home any leaves was Saturday when I was given an entire truckload of pine needles and then stopped for a few more bags of oak leaves that could ride on top of them before I went home. Saturday's load was #9.
I spent part of Sunday afternoon spreading the equivalent of a truckload of oak leaves around one of my Japanese Magnolias and along the front of my house.
I also got my truckload of pine needles spread on the western edge of the telephone pole shrub bed that's beside my house. I'd spread a lot of mixed maple and oak leaves on this bed already but I worry about doing this because a steady wind out of the west can scour this shrub bed bare when the leaves are dry. Putting pine needles down on top of the maple and oak leaves keeps them from blowing around. I'm not sure why, but the pine needles just do not blow around and they really do look nice and neat when I use them as mulch. I just wish I could get my hands on a lot more of it!
I hope I'll manage to get another load of leaves Monday afternoon despite the rainy forecast.
