So I got up early(ish) this morning (even though it is a day off) and went and toured a house with J. J is my boss essentially. Except when he isn't and then he is a quasi-friend. Not an easy relationship to negotiate because I also don't get his humor very well. But whatever. It was this house:
http://www.redfin.com/VA/King-George/16400-Forrest-Rd-22485/home/18405900 It was...okay. Tons of room, but it is old. The garage doors don't match, the garage is huge though. It would need to be powerwashed to within an inch of its life. There are a lot of porches, 2 enclosed and one off an upstairs bedroom. The "master" bedroom is small with a tiny closet and a bathroom that is shared with the main floor. There was a fourth bedroom but they opened it up to the main living room. The bathrooms were...old. But functional. Looking. Kitchen...small and closed off, but I was cool with it. No front hall closet and wood paneling in the basement. The basement also had a kitchenette and bathroom. Don't remember seeing the laundry room. It was nice overall but I don't know if I could handle the upkeep. It needs some brickwork and interior work and they want quite a bit of mulah for it. And for my first house, I really don't want to spend over 200,000. The house had like 3 heating systems too. Oil, heat pump, and some sort of water heating thing. 2 fireplaces and a ton of closets (smaller ones but a ton of them). I'd want to close off the opened up bedroom and try to make that into the master bath and closet and turn the other bathroom into a powder room. But that would take even more money and the asking price isn't good enough to swing all that. Of course, the neighborhood is really good. The houses are all different but as far as I could tell, really well maintained.
So I liked it, but at its price...no. Unless I win HGTV's Dream Home and then sell it, then this house is first on my list. :-)
After that, I headed up to Waldorf to look for my shoes. None of the knockoffs at the first Walmart. None in my size at the JC Penny. But I did stop at the Macy's and looked at dresses and got one. Okay, I totally didn't need it. I know that. But it was on clearance. It was similar to this one:
http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=354623&CategoryID=27796 but had the sweetheart neckline instead. And was purple. Pretty purple. I need to take the straps up a little as I got it a size up but it fits lovely-like. And it cost........35 dollars. $35.00! The original price was 168.00 and it was clearanced to $44.00 and I had 20% off. It has a few TINY picks that I can take care of and are really not noticable anyway. They had a black one that looked like the one in the link that is similar to a blue one my friend tried on on Friday and if it had been clearanced, I totally would have gotten it for her (and returned it if she didn't like it or it didn't fit) but sadly, it was full price. Not even Prezzy-Day sale. So after my purchase (and the strikeout on the shoes) I went to the used book store. I got five books but since it wasn't the one I have credit at, I didn't get much. Although I think they were having a sale and I got one book free and I might have gotten another free if it had "matched" one of the other ones I got. But I really didn't see anything I couldn't live wihtout (except a Dear America kids book that was written by Ellen Emerson White who is my FAVORITE author EVER). Who cares that its a kids book? Not me!
After that, I went down to the other Walmart (totally ghetto let me tell you) and they had the black shoes knockoff brand in size 10. I tried it on and it fit pretty well even though I am usually an eleven. So I got them. They were 18 dollars. Then I went to JoAnn fabrics in maryland and they wre moving too so there were good deals to be had on things. Some patterns for a dollar a piece and some cheap-o fabric. Yay! Just what I needed!
So that's what I did on my day off. Oh, and the shoes. Even though they are a 10, I put them up against the size 11 of the other brand and they are the same size. So weird, but I am not going to complain because I LURVE them.
Yesterday we went up to DC for dinner. Fogo de Chao. Brazillian steakhouse. I think I ate about 3 lbs of meat. Maybe less, but OMG, I am not going to be anemic for a long time with that red meat infusion. SO GOOD. I tried heart-of-palm and it tasted like olives. So I wasn't a fan. But I am glad I tried it. The steak was AMAZING though. Very happy we went. I don't know that I'll need to eat today because I think I am still digesting. Anyway, reading time!
