So I got up early(ish) this morning (even though it is a day off) and went and toured a house with J. J is my boss essentially. Except when he isn't and then he is a quasi-friend. Not an easy relationship to negotiate because I also don't get his humor very well. But whatever. It was this house ( Read more... )

Dress is darling!

I think you are making the right decision on the house, as well.
I think there are 1-person fixers and 2-person fixers. This looks like one that needs 2 incomes and 2 pairs of hands to get into shape and it would likely keep you both time-poor and house-poor. I'm sure it will find the right peole to love it, they just may not be you. :)

Yeah. If I suddenly become rich, I'd like to tackle it, but it definitely had that "too many layers of paint to count" look that is a bit rough to deal with with only one person. I mean, I could sucker friends into helping, but yeah, what I'd want to do with costs more money than I have espcially if I paid anywhere near "full price" for it.

Thank you! I am a total convert to the Brazilian way. Oh, and for you, I was reading this book. It was about a lady married to a guy named Jeff. He worked in the big city and earned the money while she took care of the kids. He found a hot new mistress and was divorcing her. Long story short, he was a total and utter ass who got what was coming to him in the end (though the wife (he never got to divorce her and she ended up with all the money) did have to make a bargain with the devil). It made me hopeful for you--and since you are smart enough to off-load him without having the devil pull strings, it'll be even better.
