I'm a lot saner now. The thought that pounded through my head that night seemed foolish within 24 hours. I'm learning more and more how much happier I can be when I tell my ambitious, beat-myself-to-a-pulp, go-it-alone side to shove it and go with what makes me happy. Go figure.
On Thursday evening, I took a bus to Rosedale instead of Prior Lake. There, E picked me up, and we went to Joe's Crab Shack to celebrate his birthday. The food was excellent. My drink (the Green Meanie) was fun. Dessert was tasting. And realizing we had talked for so long that the waitress came and took the tip from the table was priceless. I can't think of another occasion during which I spent two and half hours at a restaurant--without there having occurred a long wait, problems in the kitchen, or anything--and had such a nice time. Consider I didn't even buy the guy a b-day present, you'd think it was my birthday!
On Friday evening, Dad and Mom picked me up at the bus stop. We went out to eat Chinese at Fong's. Then we went next door to a video rental place to try to rent Uncle Buck. We didn't find it, but I found a sale on previously viewed VHS tapes. I bought eight for $8--a lot of good chick-flicks. At home, the three of us watched one of my new purchases--Sweet Home Alabama.
On Saturday night, I celebrated another birthday--SC of the Posse. Natalie and I "baked" her the same kind of cake as SC had when she celebrate her birthday at my hours seven years before--an entire package of fudge-stripped cookies arranged in stacked on a plate and with candles sticking out of the holes. For the first time ever, I served alcohol to my friends---thanks to my generous parents, didn't need to pay for it. I made Bahama Mamas. Four oz. Malibu Rum. Eight oz. Bacardi Rum. Four oz. Creme de Banana. Four oz. grenadine. Eight oz. orange juice. Eight oz. pineapple juice. Two and a half cans of Sprite. Cherry and pineapple garnishes. We talked for two hours before we all watched When Harry Met Sally--their first time watching it, my second.
Sunday brought a game a dress up with Biblical times costume and three 3rd-grade boys, Ben and I eating at a Boy Scout pancake breakfast that was about to shut down when we---their only customers in an hour--showed up, E and I finished the last of the three Lord of the Rings movies (the only one we didn't get to during our New Year's Eve extended version Lord of the Rings marathon), and me making lasagna for the fam minus Adam and plus E.
