I'm currently working seven days a week (only 23 teaching hours in total, but I have to plan 19 different lessons) which is kinda killing me. The upside to this is the money; with the downside, of course, being that I have absolutely no time to spend it. I'm doing NaNoWrMo for the first time this year, and quite excited. I've done a fair bit of planning for it, although I think my notes could be more detailed, and one of my main characters still doesn't have a name. Hummmmm.

So... it's Halloween soon, which means one thing: crazy, creepy food! Yesterday my flatmate spent ages dripping red food colouring in bread, carving faces into mandarins, and arranging demon-shaped mushrooms on plates. And then we had a house party, and played "Never Have I Ever..." with baiju. Twas a very evil night.

I did mean to write a quirky update on life in China, but I procrastinated today and now have to work on my lesson plans for tomorrow. (I don't usually work weekends - think this will be my only one this year.)

Finally! The latest Doctor Who is one that I actually enjoyed. Written by Tom MacRae, this was a clever little episode. It had some flaws, but was massively better than most of this season.

It's been ages since I posted in here. But I just finished Feed by Mira Grant, which reminded me of my neglected livejournal. Hopefully I'll keep it up for the next couple of weeks at least - looks like my hours at work are going to plummet soon, so I won't really have any excuse. Restiva's been my username for 10ish years now. It was something I first came up with as a teenager - I took the word restive, which I liked both for it's literal meaning (impatient of control, restraint, or delay, as persons; restless; uneasy) and the fact it sounded a bit like festive, and swapped the 'e' for an 'a'. Today I turned down the role of Theatre Editor for the student magazine. I actually wanted to be the Book Editor (since the current one is taking over Craccum next year), but the position went to somebody who has contributed more than me this year, which I guess is fair enough.
