"No human being, when you understand his desires, is worthless. No one's life is nothing. Even the most evil of men and women, if you understand their hearts, had some generous act that redeems them, at least a little, from their sins."
~ Speaker for the Dead, Orson Scott Card

"I have left orders to be awakened at any time in case of national emergency, even if I'm in a cabinet meeting."
~ Ronald Reagan

"Anything for a friend, or the clone of a friend."
~ Alex, Dark Angel

"When NASA first started sending up astronauts, they quickly discovered that ball-point pens would not work in zero gravity. To combat the problem, NASA scientists spent a decade and $12 Billion to develop a pen that writes in zero gravity, upside down, underwater, on almost any surface including glass and at temperatures ranging from below freezing to 300C. Know what the Russians used?"
"A pencil?"
"A pencil."
~ Leo and Toby, West Wing

"Well, it seems to me that the best relationships - the ones that last - are frequently the ones that are rooted in friendship. You know, one day you look at the person and you see something more than you did the night before. Like a switch has been flicked somewhere. And the person who was just a friend is... suddenly the only person you can ever imagine yourself with."
~ Dana Scully, The X-Files

"I love writing but hate starting. The page is awfully white and it says, 'You may have fooled some of the people some of the time but those days are over, giftless. I'm not your agent and I'm not your mommy, I'm a white piece of paper, you wanna dance with me?'"
~ Aaron Sorkin (so. very. true.)

"The original sin was not in eating of the forbidden fruit, but in planting the tree that bore the fruit."
~ Lemuel K. Washburn

"In your life you meet people. Some you never think about again. Some you wonder what happened to them. There are some that you wonder if they ever think about you. And then there are some you wish you never had to think about again, but you do."
~ The Wonder Years

"Just goes to show. Never send a businessman to do a psychopath's job."
~ Birds of Prey

"If you take sexual advantage of her, you're going to burn in a very special level of hell. A level they reserve for child molesters and people who talk at the theater."
~ Book, Firefly

Second day of classes went well enough. Only had one class, Philosophy, and it... could either be very interesting or very dull, depending on what we focus on, I suppose. Teacher seems nice enough, though. He gave us chocolate.

Also, because of this damn Fitness for Life class I'm taking, I'm required to work out five times a week to get an A. So, today I worked out. For the first time in my life. Or at least for the first time in my life in an actual fitness center (most of the time, my "workouts" consisted of swimming laps for twenty minutes to a half hour. I think I might have ran once in high school, too. Then I decided I really didn't like it, so I stopped.) Anyway, today after my guard shift, I spent about 20-25 minutes running on the elliptical bike/machine/that thingy with the foot pedals and handle bars that you run on with your feet going around in circles instead of jarring into a flat surface. "Ran" about a mile and a half, which considering I've never done something like that before, ain't too shabby. Those things aren't near as hard on my legs or my asthma, and I was barely even out of breath after using one, so YAY for that. Afterward, my mom had me do an additional 15 minutes or there abouts of weight training. Sometimes having your mother as the Fitness Director comes in right handy. ;)
So, all in all I did about 35 minutes of work out this afternoon. Not too bad for a first timer. I'm not going to say I really *enjoyed* myself, but it's nice to know I can.
