Fic rec dump

Apr 09, 2012 10:21

I have been reading entirely too much fan fic as of late. Mostly because it is still one of the best procrastination tools I have run across, and the last few weeks there have been quite a few things I really didn't want to do. Filling out job applications for one. Urgh, I hate job searching.

ANYWAY, recs list in no particular order.

Crossovers:
The Stars my Destination by Mad_Maudlin, an utterly fantastic SGA/Star Trek Reboot mesh that rewrites the characters of Stargate Atlantis into the world of the newest Star Trek movie while still keeping them *exactly* the same people they've always been. Incredibly well done and I am pretty sure it will require a significant amount of will power for me to maintain my "Do not reread for at least a year" rule as far as this story is concerned.

Stranger than Fiction by Lanna-kitty, a cute yet plotty Castle/Sanctuary crossover that takes place during and after the third season of Castle with spoilers up to 4x01, and an AU season three of Sanctuary. Between the shootings, discoveries, conspiracies and twists that could have come from the pages of one of his own novels, Richard Castle's life has taken a turn for the wild. Now with a bizarre and brutal serial killer on the loose, his daughter exhibiting miraculous abilities and his mother's unexpected knowledge of the weird, this writer's story has entered into the realm of urban fantasy. Few small nit picks on some of the writing, and there is no shortage of sap, but ultimately I loved this story. And also? BEST POSSIBLE CASTLE!DADDY EVER!

The Trio beneath the Temple by Seldear (Tielan), a Bones/SG-1 crossover that deals with some of the challenges left behind in the episode(s) Moebius.

Tangled
Contractions and Split Infinitives by P.I.D, an adorable and fluffy story on how Rapunzel is fitting into (or not so much) her new life as a princess.

Justice League
Haunted by Ugly_Girl. Been months and months since I read this one, but I do remember enough to say that Bruce is being haunted by the ghosts of all his dead, and the flood is becoming overwhelming to the point where he's slowly dying and/or going mad. Being unable to reach him themselves, the ghosts of his parents turn to Diana for help. I was less than impressed by how Diana ultimately decided to break the curse - I think the author just wanted to be done with it already and so kind of copped out on the climax and took the path of least resistance - but I loved everything else about the story.

Between the Shadow and the Soul by cinaed. Where Amazons go, gods-and trouble-follow. When Psyche reveals that Aphrodite is about to meddle in Diana and Bruce’s relationship, Diana decides to put a stop to the goddess’s interference. But with gods and goddesses popping up left and right, Diana’s quest is going to be more difficult than she anticipates.

Court Etiquette (The Love Unmasks Us Remix) by cinaed. During and after the events of “Hereafter,” Hippolyta has two unexpected conversations and one conversation that, while expected, still manages to surprise her.

Star Trek Reboot
An ending is just a beginning in disguise by Grim Lupine. Uhura has never really thought of forever in terms of her and Spock-they're young, both of them, and forever seems so far away. Forever means even less when death seems likely, if not imminent, and maybe it should tell her something that she looks at Spock and sees here, now, this beautiful moment, and can't think forward to when they will be old and gray and comfortably wrinkled together.

SG-1
What Would Jack Do? by aurora-novarum. SG-1 and other SGC members get in situations where they follow a Jack O'Neill philosophy-bitch and eat cake. Teamy SG-1 and Stargate Command fluffy fic. With cake, obviously. :)

star trek, sg1, fluff, movies, castle, bones, tangled, fic recs, sga, justice league, disney, sanctuary
