Castle rambles

* Laney, you continue to be awesome. No one is going to listen to you and we're all doomed to constant frustration on The Issue, but you are still awesome and thanks ever so much for trying. Sometimes it is all you can do.
* Heh. Loved Kate's smirk and peek around Castle's hand when Hunt is first introduced. Not that I blame her.
* Hmm... I am finding myself rather distracted by Inspector Colin Hunt. I'm not usually one to be distracted by pretty boys, especially not pretty boys who are blond, and yet here I am, distracted by Hunt. I blame the accent. Which I'm pretty sure is closer to Australia than it is to British, but I'm not complaining.
* Wow Castle, immature much? Even when you were still in the first season different-bimbo-a-week phase, you still had more interest in, you know, CATCHING KILLERS than going out to lunch with your current bimbo.

Totally random and out there, and the colors would never work for me and my pasty white skin - even if I were inclined to try, which I'm not - but I did rather like the bitchy rapper's (Nicky?) eyeshadow.

* Again with the Laney awesomeness in the morgue. Seriously, show, you should use her as more than just friend and filler fodder.

* Hey, it's that guy from the Nanny. I dunno, can a sitcom dad ever *really* be the bad guy? It's just so not family friendly.
(... and I think that last comment might've been the cold medication talking)

* Heh. Way to go Kate. Awesome dress, too, though it might've looked even better if you didn't look so darned uncomfortable in it.
* I'm also amused at how Ryan and Esposito's pictures for the little break in plan were about as uncomplimentary as they could get, while Castle's was pristine and perfect. So very... Castle.

* Kate: "Well, there's more to me than meets the eye." Me: "TRANSFORMERS!"... again, I think that was the cold medication talking.

* Real smooth, Hunt. Like satin, that. That was sarcasm by the way, but I forgive you because it allowed Kate to be awesome and sneaky and pick-pockety. Though admittedly she was less than smooth with the caviar bit, so I suppose it all evens out in the end.

* Oh, bad timing, Ryan. I knew it wasn't going to happen, but still, so close! I don't care if they hate each other for awhile once what needs to be said is said, I just want it to FREAKING BE SAID ALREADY. Arrgh. Have I mentioned lately how much it drives me nuts when people aren't honest with each other? Because it does. Oh boy, does it ever. ::strangle-ey hands::

* Also, I am totally with Beckett on the sharing information on an ACTIVE POLICE INVESTIGATION with a woman you've ONLY KNOWN FOR THREE DAYS. For heavens sake, Castle, this isn't just you devolving from your first season stupidity about police work - you hit the Devoloution point within the first two minutes of the episode. Now you've actually overshot Stupid by a significant margin and you're well on your way to Spoiled Rich Boy who should only ever see the inside of a police station after he's been arrested.

* Loved the whole "I'm getting rather more adept at sneaking past people" with Hunt at customs, though. Totally had me snickering a few times. "...than a... ah... One-legged man in an ass-kicking contest!" So amusing to see how the rest of the world views us Redneck Americans.

* Ooo, pretty sunset.

I liked Colin. I kind of hope he comes back at some point, even if it means more annoying UST to deal with. So while I'm kind of "Eh" about the episode in general, I will admit that I loved pretty much every scene with him in it. I was even able to get past the distracting good looks after the first ten minutes or so and actually focus on his character and stuff!

That said, Beckett talked a lot in this episode how people can change. She was, of course, mostly referring to Castle, but with him it was more like he devolved than changed, at least in this episode. It was Kate, though, who I've really seen change the most the last few years. She has always, always been a fantastic cop, but she's definitely lost a bit of confidence when it comes to just being a regular old woman. She's never been great at having a personal life, mind, but she did used to be very much like Nikki Heat - uber confident in her ability as a cop AND as a women who is very, very good at what she does. I don't know if the writers intended it or not, but lately she's been a lot less good at the women part. In all of the more personal scenes with Hunt at the ball, she seemed incredibly stiff and uncomfortable and not at all the confident, self-assured woman she usually is. Then Nigel shows up and she's back in Cop Mode - beautiful and self-confident and smart and not at all afraid to use those to her advantage. She's great a being a cop, but it definitely seems like she's not quite as good as she used to be *not* being a cop.

Lastly, geek moment to counteract the somber - it totally looked like Beckett mouthed the word "Frack!" when Ryan interrupted her and Castle next to he expresso machine. Even if she is being stupid (though I think Castle still wins on being the Most Stupid this time around), I do still ever so much love our geeky little Kate.

Also, heh. When I was looking for an Episode Guide on ABC's website, I ran across Castle's Bucket List, which amused me.

spoilers, castle
