Seems mother nature has some healthy lungs, for she blew 2/5 ree-may coverings off my low tunnels in the vegetable garden, not very nice of her at all. But with a short trudge out to the field and a little work added, they are all back in business this evening, well, at least they were o.k. until it got dark out, the wind is back at it again ( Read more... )

A crispy low 20's this morning, everything here was clamped down under a thick coat of frost. As the sun crested the trees, the steam wafted away from the tops of all the barns like smoke from a bonfire, the goats looked like stuffed animals with their fur coats all a fuzzy to keep them warm. Hauling logs for firewood today. Strange noises indeed the tractor makes when it's hooked up to a 30" diameter log about 15' long. Not sure how we will get the rest of the log out, from the top down, we have taken out about 65', the last 50' is getting pretty big around. the base near the stump is pretty close to 4'plus in diameter ( Read more... )

Except for the chores of feeding the animals, I took the day off today. Been making a plethora of cookies for xmas. Pumpkin, sugar, tom thumb, spritz. Still have cutout cookies to do. Might be tomorrow though.

Tomorrow will bring me back to working on firewood in the morning, replenishing the stocks.

With the help of our dear friends Dave and Jodie we got a significant portion of the new hoophouse put up today. This is a 18'w X 30'L Schedule40 PVC structure.

There will be pics of the ongoing construction going up on the farm's blog, see them there.

Omg .. Not sure I will be able to move in the morning.

- Freshly mowed lawn

- a soft breeze and a spring rain

- hot dogs on the grill and baked beans

Broke off the right hand side of the main draw bar, where the lower right arm of the 3-point hitch connects.

This is not a good time for the plow to be broken....
